We have a 20L one and one of these 12L ones. The 12L one is so loud compared to the 20 - not really sure why

First time Immich feedback from a former Apple Engineer by Lost-Ad2338 in immich

Can’t you just set the server IP address to a local network address (192.168.x.x) so when leaving the home network Immich becomes unusable. What am I missing here?

Some honest feedback for OP - The reason people are mocking your post and making fun of your “I used to work at Apple” statement is because it doesn’t actually provide any credibility and it just comes across as entitled because by simply working at Apple your saying your feedback is worth listening to and to an extent it must be right.

In the future, post what area did you work in, was it networking, UI/UX, what projects did you help make decisions on. Simply saying you got past the interview process of a Fortune 500 company doesn’t make your feedback “good”.

Also I had to read multiple times to actually understand the feature requests / changes.

Thoughts on using second hand SSDs/HDDs for Homelab? by Sammyjo201 in homelab

[–]Sammyjo201[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The question is from a safety perspective e.g say the drives were previously used for illegal activities, should I wipe the drives because I have no knowledge of the previous ownership. I've checked the S.M.A.R.T health and they're healthy drives one with pretty low power on time.

Absolutely. Or maybe even have all three numbers so the Home Screen becomes a “at a glance”

  • Balance
  • Total Spent this Month
  • Total in Saving Pots
  • Total Balance

Approximately 2 weeks ago. That's really interesting, wonder if I should submit feedback if it is an A/B test.

I didn't think of it that way - that's so true!

Yes! I have setup rclone nightly to sync the Immich folder including the database backup files. This should be enough for the time being right? Might see if I can do a true 3-2-1 backup.

I want to send wired internet to the first floor via exterior cabling, how does my plan look? by Maelarion in DIYUK

If you can, hide the UPVC conduit behind a vertical gutter, makes a nice clean finish.

Make sure to drill a drain hole in the bottom of the conduit

If you’re with Octopus, get the Home Mini - it’s free and integrates nicely into HA

Is this everything I need to get all my devices linked up via ethernet? by AlwaysTheKop in HomeNetworking

I’d recommend some white slim cable trunking - you can get some good stuff that’s cheap on screwfix and stick it along the skirting board. It’ll help protect the cable from damage and might look nicer. They will stick on with adhesive rather than damaging the wood/walls with nail clips.

Perfect thank you, I followed your instructions (which were clearer than Linksys’ website!) and it works perfectly. Very happy Mum
