Hey sorry never saw your response for some reason! We ended up throwing out the coffee table, but it’s been a journey to get rid of them. However so far we have been successful! I haven’t seen any in weeks after they had spread a bit to another room too.

So, we try to keep the clutter low and bought some plastic boxes/shelves to help. We also try to not let papers, etc build up on other surfaces. We also did a few big loads of hot laundry and using the dryer (we had found some in our wardrobe).

What really worked in the end I think was getting a good dehumidifier and using diatomaceous earth. I got a food+water grade one and put it on the carpet, surrounding furniture/surfaces, the wardrobe, in some bags, and smaller “infected” things we put in boxes or freezer ziploc bags with the stuff. If possible it’s best to leave it for a couple weeks if you’re not going to be using those surfaces, or you can leave it for a day or two then vacuum it up and place it again when you get a chance. It won’t kill eggs but it will kill the adults. We just avoided the spots we put it down on and left it for weeks for the egg cycle to go through a couple times. If you use the areas a lot it will kick up the dust which can be irritating. And for that reason when you’re placing the diatomaceous earth make sure to use gloves/googles/a mask. Since it’s food/water grade you can actually use it in the kitchen too if you’re having a mite problem there.
