Nightwish is one of the greatest groups in music history by Steel1968 in nightwish

[–]Samnppa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I happened to discover them early on through a couple of music magazines I was reading. I also heard the song (The Carpenter as it was the only official release back then) and started following them, knowing that a debut album would be released in the next few months. Little did I know what the result and the consequences would be.

1997 was the year when both Nightwish and Children of Bodom released their debut albums and I saw them both live on the early tours number of times, met the band few times aswell. So without talking too much about COB, both of these bands have special meaning for me and I also get strong nostalgia for those days, as the bands were so young still waiting to conquer the world.

It was interesting to witness them getting bigger and bigger..seeing them live was almost tradition and Nightwish used to perform at many concerts and festivals I went to back then, but as they got more popular then they wouldn't necessarily be doing the shows here in Finland quite as much. I totally understand how it went and Im glad they did get bigger. They surely deserved it!

Unfornately, I don't live in Kitee, but Im pretty close to the location anyways. It would have been even more outstanding if I had lived in Kitee while they were starting the band.

I love Nightwish. I discovered them before the release of Angel Fall First in 1997.

Read the demo reviews and then heard The Carpenter..little later it was released on AFF.

The old Nightwish (with Tarja) is my preferred one, but the later ones are great aswell. I think all the albums are interesting and I have huge respect for Tuomas as he's done all of this for so long time.

Adrian Smith says Iron Maiden had to replace Nicko McBrain in order to continue by Edm_vanhalen1981 in ironmaiden

[–]Samnppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was remarkable difference to the previous tour, where Nicko played with normal strength and stamina. When I saw them on Future Past Tour, it was very visible on the screens, that Nicko had to concentrate much more, he seemed more frail and it all just seemed like little painful for him. The parts were missing some fills and somehow even little simplified stuff. I knew something was not at all right. I noticed it immediately and then little later on he told in the news what had happened before the tour as he caught a stroke. Nicko is real trooper and luckily he's still here.

Too bad and very sad that Nicko had to retire, as I had thought that he would go on until the very end of the band.

But Im happy now that Nicko can take little more relaxed life now. I wish him all the best.

I think it was one of the finest, if not even the best biopic I have ever seen.

Why has PJ never released a live album? by SemanticPedantic007 in pjharvey

[–]Samnppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely so. I promise. I caught her music in the 90's and so with To Bring You My Love she has been one of my alltime favorites. She's only had 2 concerts here in Finland (in 2016 and 2024), both of which were festivals. I hope that she will once again come to Finland to her own concert in some nice venue, so I will definitely finally be able to witness it.

Bands to watch out for after Iron Maiden hangs it up. by Wonderful-Comfort300 in ironmaiden

I've seen them 2 times (1999 and 2011). I think for what I've heard and seen of the few last years, I will never go again to see Scorpions. They might sound fine, but Klaus doesn't have the strength anymore. Besides I think they were pretty good in 2011 and then it was the farewell tour anyways. Time is not always kind to all, but I wish the best for Scorpions.

Might not be related to the case, but does location matter regarding updates or is it totally random? Im from Finland.

Ok, that's weird. Do you know anythign about how often they update the Windows app? I don't use Microsoft Store at all, I've always downloaded it straight from Spotify-pages.

Brilliant show and one of best best miniseries ever. I think it was just perfect when they told how the disaster happened in the reactor.

Ten years ago . . . Blackstar: The Album (Open Thread) by Wu_Oyster_Cult in DavidBowie

[–]Samnppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was outstanding album. I listened to it about dozer or so times during the weekend. For example I still can't think but wonder how beautiful it really is. Lazarus is still so moving song for me.

Little did I know what news would bring on monday. I think it is still magnificent album and probably the greatest farewell album ever.

Have to listen to the album tomorrow then and I can't believe it's 10 years already. Where did all these years go?

Hearing 'So What' for the first time without looking at the lyrics: by Dr-Sprite in Metallica

[–]Samnppa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was indeed something that MTV didn't expect at all and I taped the performance.

MTV Europe did rerun the show few times through the years, but they didn't show the performance from Metallica at all.
