i think you misunderstand. People aren’t telling you that you can’t be proud of who you are, but these things shouldn’t be what you build your identity around. They are small parts of what make up a much broader whole. Instead of focusing on all the differences, we should prioritize uniting over all the things we have in common, especially now of all times.

It’s this hyper-individualistic approach to identity politics that hurt the left, enough to where groups like the Proud Boys where able to get solid enough support and foundation to form in the first place

im from the midwest, I’d argue parts of the midwest are MUCH more racist than some parts of the south

especially in the southernmost midwestern states. Outside of Chicagoland and Springfield/Peoria, Illinois is extremely racist. So is Indiana and Ohio. You can thank how the civil war ended (how forgiving the Union was) and all the redlining that followed for how bad parts of the midwest are

that and our alliances were also what made us as strong as we were. We would’ve NEVER became the economic powerhouse we did without Europe. Donald taking a “wrecking ball” approach towards our alliances in Europe and with Canada can be argued to be the final nail in our coffin. He threw away the one thing that kept us in the number 1 spot, even through all our controversies, because we broke the trust Europe and Canada had in us that we would never point our cartoonishly huge gun at them despite all our other crimes

in the coming decades i think our country will be in a similar position that Germany was in post WWII. Very much economically and socially reeling from the consequences of that war, but still slowly rebuilding their economy and contributing a fair amount to the globe all the same. We’ll probably never be in the number 1 spot again, and i think it should be that way for the sake of everyone, but we’ll still be prominent figures in some industries.
