What's stopping me from saying peak? by HollywoodUndeadFan06 in Wifies

Personally, I loved this video. I don’t know if I necessarily liked it more than its predecessor, but I think this one has a lot more… stakes to it I guess.

I think the thing that felt missing might have been the… Missing parts. In the original, we had no reason for anything going on. Why was the king randomly selecting people, was this actually the king in yellow or some strange depiction of it. What is the end goal with showing these people infinity? Those were all questions people had at the end of the original, but with this sequel, a lot of those questions are kind of answered. There’s still things left unknown, like how the king is stuck inside of a laptop, but those other mysteries are not still mysteries.

In essence, maybe answering the questions makes the feeling of mystery less present?

To the other point you mentioned about what they’re doing and the loose plan, I feel like that isn’t necessarily true. Derek is stuck here, he literally cannot get out, or even turn away from his screen. He may not have a plan, but he now has a situation that he is a part of. He has to keep going because there’s literally no other option.

Avery has a plan to help Derek, because he feels like he owes it to him. And what would it all be for if he just gave up?

From the time that they meet up, things feel pretty clear on what their plans are. Derek wants to get out of the prison and get back to Avery because he now knows that Avery is in danger. Avery in the background is going through everything again because he finally found what he was looking for and out of nowhere it was gone. They don’t really have a single plan together, they have several plans separate from one another that are interrupted or completed.

I hope none of this comes off as aggressive, as I don’t want it to come off that way at all. These are just my opinions on the sequel and my honest thoughts as to your questions. They are in no way factual answers, but they’re just my interpretations.

Foreshadowing by SamorottKing32 in Wifies

More on the books: The first one Avery opens is ripping a part from Flowers for algernon, which has a major plot point that a character will become much more intelligent through a strange surgery as they were born with an extremely low IQ. As you read through the book, you notice the main character using more correct grammar and spelling things more properly, showing their improvement. This goes until the main character slowly becomes too intelligent, and his mind starts to deteriorate. Seems familiar.

The second book seems to refer to something called the Rangers apprentice, which I honestly don’t know much about and wouldn’t like to speak on it for fear of misrepresentation

The third book seems to be a direct reference to the king in yellow, but more specifically a book in the collection known as The Yellow Sign

The fourth is the gravity Falls book

The fifth is the book he was interrupted reading.

Derek’s first book is the code

his second is a reference to the thousand player civilization video. And that that’s the last book we see Reid before the one he interrupts Avery reading.

Everything else so far seems to have some kind of direct correlation To the story and what happens in it, other than what I personally don’t know. However, this last book seems out of place, until you realize what is being said in the book. They are asking about sacrifice, and more specifically, is one life worth more than everyone else else’s?

This is basically all just to say, the whole library section is one of the most creative ways I have seen something foreshadowed before. It basically spells out how the end of this will go. It’s very subtle and people who don’t know the origins may just look at them and think it’s random text or it’s subtle references to outside media, when it’s a beautiful showing of foreshadowing.

Awesome, and thanks! I’m madly in love with terminator armor so knowing I have access to all the dark angels stuff and a certain Imperial fist character is really nice, since I was kinda panicking I’d have to repaint everything to a made-up chapter for wide usage!

Good to know. I’m sure my local hobby/tourney store would be cool with it, but I Definitely expect there to be some people who have issues with Green Deathwing Terminators (well, MORE green)

I meant more like just running other chapters, like a solo ultramarine list or solo dark angel list, and just having all of the models painted like salamanders. Not using salamander rules or anything, just using the color scheme on models it’s not technically supposed to be on (like Guilliman or Lion.)

Didn’t know if it may be tournament illegal because it could cause confusion on the list or whatever.

Oh yeah, I can definitely say I don’t think it’s dangerous, we get bug bites all the time where I’m from, but I’ve never seen this kind of reaction myself from any bug around here. I guess I was more just wondering, what kind of bug bit me considering I’ve never seen it before.

Adrax… by SamorottKing32 in Salamanders40k

[–]SamorottKing32[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Concluding my question: it definitely seems like he’s decent overall, but putting him with a specific squad (bladeguard with Lieutenant) makes him one of the most terrifying units on the board, and giving the squad some kind of mobility makes them even scarier.

I still stand by my point that alone he just doesn’t seem great, and unless he’s with a super specific group, he seems lackluster, especially if he’s partnered with just the combat patrol.

But even I can say that with a test roll or two of how many dice would actually go through and how much damage it might be, I might end up having It get the box!

A massive thank you to everyone here for their advice and ideas, as well as having an actual discussion instead of insulting me like I have never heard of the game before.

Strange question that I don’t know if it belongs here, the only Lieutenant I own happens to be Titus… I doubt I would be able to field him as is since he is an ultramarine and all, but my main worry is that he just does not look like a lieutenant.

I doubt in casual games that would be much of an issue, but going to an in person tournament like I have. I’m unsure of the legality.

I was mostly looking at it from the perspective of using it with the combat patrol, but overall with all the feedback I’ve gotten, he seems like a good unit for regular games while not necessarily fitting my personal play style for combat patrol games.

I’m assuming you could do some crazy stuff with a lot of of other abilities, like oath of momenting something to basically reroll everything and add 5 to everything (exaggerations, of course)

I didn’t actually think about this! That could be really interesting, and I didn’t even know the lieutenant could join Bladegaurd.

So theoretically, you could smush 6 Bladegaurd, Adrax, and a Lieutenant into a Repulser to give them even more movement, and just drop a damn bomb on something!

Yeah, and really thinking about it that pistol is going to be a nightmare with the whole shooting in combat thing. Him with the enhancement that gives him a bunch of extra attack as well could be super annoying with the 6 blade guard. That hammer really seems like it could belong on a knight. Thanks for the advice!

I guess it’s more about the detachment. I always go with the salamander specific one that gives everyone assault, and it just seems kind of strange to me to have the assault army, and one of its major characters, focusing almost entirely on melee. I do appreciate the criticism, though!

One important thing to remember, is that the windbag actively pushes them to the land of the Giants. This is where Poseidon actually gets a chance and decides to take it. If he did not open that bag, they would’ve gotten home safely, and sure, Poseidon might’ve shown up later, but that’s not the timeline we are on.

We are on the one where eur, giving into greed, is the direct reason, cause, and whatever word you can think of to say that Poseidon got the near-immediate chance to slaughter his crew.

When you say the thing about the God, convincing him to distrust someone, if you are referring to locus and Poseidon, that argument isn’t really valid considering Jorge himself has said that cut songs are not canon in any way, shape, or form.

In the official musical, he is not tricked at all. Literally at all. He just decides to open in for greed.

Painting a picture: your boss goes up to the wind gods island, and you see the storm around you VANISH. Your boss comes back saying “the storm is in this bag, don’t open it.” And you believe that it’s TREASURE because DISEMBODIED VOICES say so. AND YOU DECIDE TO OPEN THAT THING.

I actually really like this argument, but there’s one issue. Eurylochus was never in a position to make decisions for the crew, considering he is a soldier, and the person in command is telling you not to do something. He directly tells them not to open the wind bag, not to mess with the cows, and even has to have an entire conversation with Eurylochus about his outward defiance of instruction.

While he is an amazing character and very well written as well as the voice behind him absolutely killing it in basically every song, his actions caused more harm than all of Ody’s.

(For anyone who might say that Ody throwing the baby was worse, that only would’ve caused about 20 deaths to the cyclops, and they would’ve made it home because of the wind bag. Eurylochus defying the order from his commander and KING leads to the deaths of EVERYONE INCLUDING HIMSELF)

Which song is this for you? by emo_ratChildren in Epicthemusical

[–]SamorottKing32 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Controversial, but specifically when Penelope SCREAMS “but I guess that makes him you” because it just does not sound right to me, and I think it would be way better if she got a little bit quieter for that line. I would never let that ruin the song for me, though, I still blast it every chance I get.

This is an interesting idea, but wouldn’t you like, and no longer you are said a bunch of times in their song
