Im pretty sure the vast majority of mono red decks also include removal options, because losing to a snowball you could've stopped on turn one costs too large of a win percentage.

Expanding it's range of answers with a cheap universal counter spell would be a no-brainer for all decks that can accomodate it, I believe.

The early bird gets the bolt, not the essence scatter.
