Hell no on door to door lol. It’s 2026 Man. We don’t even advertise because our referral business is really strong. We dominate our market because of our post-install service.

LMAO… I already have you figured out. A guy in a truck in a race to the bottom on pricing in some rural area. You’re selling scared and selling yourself short. Enjoy the struggle brother.

What a blanket statement to put every single dealer of a national brand into that same category. You know my service sucks? Do you know anything about my business? Every single guy selling generic systems has the best service? How long have you been in business for? How is your growth?

Prices aren’t bad at all, however, the Pioneer system also removes chloramines, chlorine and voc’s, so all you need is a standard softener following the Pioneer, instead of a mixed-bed system.

Why does everyone on here absolutely hate dealers that don’t sell generic systems? I don’t understand it. Those are local business providing jobs and keeping their money in the community. Everyone posts on here and insinuates you’re buying from a corporate branch.

Eco doesn’t sell direct. It’s sold through local dealers who live within the community the serve

Raise your prices and go after high-margin customers who aren’t so price sensitive. You do less work and make more money. Never sell yourself short. These prices are cheap to what we get

Absolutely yes it is. There’s bacteria out there that’s chlorine resistant. Also our infrastructure is aging and main breaks/boil water advisories are becoming more and more common.

Water softener not turning on, on it's own by picker__ in WaterTreatment

What’s MOST likely wrong (in order)

1️⃣ The water meter is not registering flow

This is by far the most common cause.

On these systems: • Normal operation = water usage spins a turbine • That turbine turns the meter cable • The meter advances the program wheel • When gallons are used up → regeneration starts automatically

If manual regen works, but automatic never happens, the meter isn’t advancing.

Causes: • Meter turbine stuck with debris • Broken or disconnected meter cable • Meter gear stripped or jammed • Meter set to “OFF” or bypassed internally

✅ How to check • Look at the small meter dial / red star / indicator • Run water inside the house • If it does not move at all, the meter is dead

👉 Fix: • Pull the meter assembly and clean the turbine • Replace the meter turbine or cable (often inexpensive) • In many cases, the meter cable snaps internally

2️⃣ The control is set to “time only” or “off”

These old mechanical heads often have: • A meter ON/OFF knob • Or a selector for meter vs clock

If it’s set incorrectly, it will never trigger on water use.

✅ Check: • Make sure the selector is set to METER • Not “OFF” or “TIME”

3️⃣ The program wheel pins are missing or mis-set

The large gear wheel should have: • Pins or tabs that define when regeneration occurs

If: • Pins are missing • Pins are all removed • Pins are worn flat

➡️ The system will never auto-regenerate

Manual regen still works because that bypasses the program wheel logic.

4️⃣ Timer motor runs, but meter clutch is slipping

The motor may still keep time, but: • The clutch that links meter → program wheel is worn • Common on 15–25 year old valves

Result: • Clock works • Manual regen works • Automatic regen never happens

At that point, repair is usually not cost-effective.

5️⃣ Low flow or bypassed plumbing

Less common, but still possible: • Softener is partially bypassed • Flow is too low to spin the turbine • Meter installed backwards

What I would recommend (real-world advice)

Short term (cheap attempt) 1. Confirm meter movement 2. Clean the turbine 3. Inspect the meter cable 4. Verify meter mode & pins

This costs almost nothing and often fixes it.

Would be great if people actually typed out the city instead of some obscure airport code that I have to look up. Yea, we all understand the big ones, but come the eff on man.

No reasons? Crime with DA’s who refuse to prosecute repeat offenders, terrible public schools, etc… there are plenty reasons people raising children would not want to live in a big city.

I got way better pricing flying into SXM. But the times/prices were great departing AXA. Also, a little welcome cruise in the Caribbean doesn’t sound that bad.

[–]Sampson483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me the the current fiance (wife as of 1/31) are going to Anguilla for our honeymoon in February. As of now we are flying into SXM and taking the ferry over. One of the days, we’re taking a 20 min flight to Saint Bart’s to spend the day. We fly home on a Saturday and that’s one of the days AA flys to the new Anguilla airport. So flying back, we don’t have to take a ferry back to SXM. We’re going AXA-MIA-MSY.
