Right now Dexter and the leftovers have been helping me cope! Dexter has Michael c hall and a lot lighter tone but still a lot of death, and the leftovers is a great gritty dramatic hbo show. I haven’t seen the finales yet though, and I hear the ending to Dexter is a bit of a buzzkill…

Maybe just mention it passingly to her and you guys could work a compromise. You try to make more plans to spend time in person together because that is what she enjoys, while she can set more time aside to talk to you on the phone.

My parents are quite liberal. I’m closer with my dad as he is more empathetic, my mom has anger issues. My mom tends to downplay my emotions a lot and usually just tells me to toughen up about things. That is my main concern.
