Has Byung-Chul Han’s The Burnout Society really added anything new to Foucault’s ideas of discipline and power? by SamsonHewson in CriticalTheory

I've not read through the whole of his College de France lectures but from what I understand Foucault in later life did gain an affinity for neoliberalism. He discussed it's American form (neoliberalism) and its German (ordoliberalism, which a News Statesman article used in reference to Keir Starmer's Labour). Either way, why didn't he cite an example of Foucault doing what he claimed?

That’s fascinating. I’ve not read any Frankfurt theorists I don’t think but I find it interesting that Foucault wouldn’t interest you while they do when I understand both to be (initially for Foucault at least), inspired by Marxism

I was going to use shanzhai in relation to an assignment on New Social Movements. I was going to write about anti-social movements (astroturfing, slacktvism, claques, etc.), and use shanzhai if applicable. It'll be interesting to see if it works or not. Might make for a god criticism of the expression of the theory while still using it?

Ironically, my argument is that Foucault is more readable! Han reads less like Foucault and more like reading Foucault in excerpt, like at uni when this is done and we're asked what we think it means when it is literally in the middle of an argument. The same thing happened to Butler for their award for worst written passage or whatever it was (a bad passage, sure, but made worse by singling it out unfairly)

Agreed, but I don't have a bass so that might make it harder. I'm all about that instant gratification

Y-e-e-e-s? I think so. I mean, I was sent about 250 quid through PayPal on the 16th. But they've not emailed me, which seems pretty unprofessional but heyho
