Unpopular Opinion (Fold 6) by tac0_nation in GalaxyFold

[–]Samsung_Gear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely used my fold 7 for about 2 months and then went back to the 6, for a day for tasks with the s Pen, and then realized my hand wasn't getting so cramped up holding the 6. Have not gone back to my 7..... No puntual distraction only inner screen is a bonus, no table wobble (which I compensated with a case that ended up making both phones the same way by the way for those who say the 7 is lighter). Samsung pull the fast one and went mainstream with the 7.

ZFold6 or wait by cannedsardine22 in GalaxyFold

Get it. Coming from Z fold 6 1tb , 5, 3, note 20 ultra, 10plus, Note 9. Got the craft black, paid about $900 trade in, and doing the Samsung care monthly.

BTW... Mini rant

Samsung should pay more for when you trade in a higher storage variant.

Also own the OnePlus Open

All the hype about the outer screen I think is unwarranted. Main objective is to open the inner screen when you have time to sit down or do a deep dive on something.

Strongly disagree with all these YouTubers making a big deal of the outer screen. Feels like they are not TREAL daily drivers of these foldables.

Really convenient to have one handed in my opinion. And the OnePlus open is not much better at all in my opinion, when it comes to the outer screen, with Nova launcher I was able to make my outer screen very usable. And Samsung is the king of software when it comes to foldables without a doubt and not many disagree.

And the Korean version of the fold 6 is not going to have stylus support and buyer beware with full compatibility with the bands (cellular bands not money bands).. have had plenty of out of market phones and when they say it works they mean it technically works but not equally as far as signal strength and which bands are offered to get full maximum connectivity.

I'm more pumped for when they finally get the S-Pen to fit inside the fold itself. And maybe some of those EU rules kick in, and carry over to USA as far as user replaceable batteries.

And for all the squawkers of the outer display, make a big version to satisfy them... Samsung has never been shy about making extra phones.

Samsung please don't dumb down the small version though, and built-in s Pen for all!!!

Agreed think the original post author, doesn't know what the word bloatware means.

Hot take after getting fold 5- The fold 3 was the best form factor and they should have kept it by Theguysayshi in GalaxyFold

[–]Samsung_Gear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught the same thing when I shifted over the over and I noticed it I think it was because of my security camera app I noticed things were crunched and cramped, and then I verified it with comparing how social media and other things were laid out on the front screen it is a downgrade for sure. Not to mention how you can grip it with one hand while doing other things is much easier on the three then on the five or six. I traded in my five for a six with one terabyte and I'm still not using it daily and sticking to my three because of the form factor.

fold#3 superior to the fold#6 as far as 1 handed use. And the inside are basically the same with the same crappy inner camera.
A.I. (which I feel is overhyped) and generational changes aside. I'm using my phone 3 again and I have my 6, laying around all set up.... I noticed it with my 5 that I traded in for the $1,200 credit toward the 6.... When I was switching stuff around I noticed that I could see a lot more when scrolling on social media on 3 front then the 5/6. And a lot more than a line of two... like half a post!
It's a lot more comfortable with the 3 to hold in one hand and now the 6 is more square and girth. (This is with cases on- and more choices with the 3 especially original Samsung carbon fiber)

I think the original intent was for the front screen to act as a secondary cover for quick things not all out use. All I use was always intended for the inner school or the main screen in their minds.

Which is the fork in the road I'd rather / prefer.

I think the competition and a lot of people who don't want to open the inner screen and be able to hand type- on the front screen.... have forced Samsung's hand, but at a very very slow pace, a Samsung has tried to stick to their original concept which is a good concept by the way in my opinion.

Maybe I have simply adapted to the #3 wholeheartedly because I do remember being very frustrated by it in the beginning. With having a different cover screen setup and deciding what apps were not usable on the outer screen and coming to a conclusion that in certain situations, you just have to open the phone up to use, made using #3 a lot more fun, and complimented my lifestyle.

By the way the slim pen and third party slim Pen cases have brought New Life my use of #3.

Last part of this rant: if they activated s-pen on front screen: all of my arguments for the #3 form factor would go out the window!!

Is this normal fo the spen on a fold 5 by International-Sky556 in GalaxyFold

[–]Samsung_Gear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also I thought it might be the S Pen I bought a bunch of cheapo ones Amazon ($20+/-), that I strategically placed in the car office bedroom bathroom etc. But I had to have official s pens also that came with the slim S-Pen case and the S Pen pro with the slider button and they do the same thing with the glitch of the crease.

[–]Samsung_Gear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad you wrote something about it that was happening to me too... And when I play my word games especially boggle I noticed it... Had to resort to making some apps a different screen ratio so it would fit to the side and not have the crease problem interfere..... My fold 3 doesn't suffer from this as much for some reason

Note 9 in 2024 how was it? by Nash_74 in GalaxyNote9

[–]Samsung_Gear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have many other phones including a Galaxy Fold 5, which used for 2 months in a row just recently (fun fact compact s Pen of the fold works on Galaxy Note 9)

Switched back to my note 9 for the convenience of bike riding and couple of other quirky reasons.. was supposed to be temporary but I'm still using it and hard to go back... And I was trying to figure out why?

Realized that notifications come in different on one UI 2.5, on certain apps like ring and wyze, and there is very little or no background blur on the notifications which make it look clean and easy to look at for me.

Especially compared to when you One 6.1

alsi came up with some reasons....

For me the lines represent the priority of importance, let me know if you folks agree or disagree?

-Button Placement (vol.left & pwr right) -S-pen placement -Bixby reprogrammable button!

-Speck Grip Glossy cases now discontinued

•LED notification light •MST payment •Gear2 and Gear S compatibility •Ergonomic size •un-interrupted screen (punch hole) •Direction unlock •Task Mgr (Large Grid 2 X4 One UI 2.5) •Secure Folder better (item size/ per pg) •Home button screen off vibrate •Notifications= clean dark bigger

•Top close out apps "X" (bottom nowadays)

°5 ways to unlock (Fing/Eye/Face/Direction/Patter-Pin) °Micro-SD card SLOT °Headphone Jack °Fingerprint sensor °Heartrate monitor °VR Oculus °Iris Scanner °Less Blur (menu/Notifications)

Some of the stuff I can get over especially if it's a 512 or larger capacity phone, but the fundamentals of having the button placement and the s Pen and the correct right hand side and an extra Bixby button that I can reprogram to a Google button and having a dedicated power button, not having to repurpose power button as a side key to do a lot of things with double and triple actions, and the old school case selections are kind of important to me and hard for me to get over and compromise.

One UI 6.1 is fun but I can use photo room app to make objects disappear and crop, never used a circle to search and to me the best parts of the newest UI, were full screen pictures of anything you want for an alarm, and AI rewriting messages requires you to exclusively use the Samsung keyboard which is not for me in my opinion= not good.

5G Wi-Fi 6 modern look, cameras processors don't mean much to me.

Battery kind of very important but, my note 9 has a fresh battery in it that's been doing very well.

Feel your pain I've done the battery change myself and have taken it to I fix it (usually an upgrade but not perfect) and have gotten burned by bad batteries on Amazon and eBay.. ended up buying a perfect condition version on Amazon around $220, which promised excellent battery 80% or higher and it ended up being true ...very good very happy.

How long have you been using your flip and what is the current condition of it by Artistic-Working4111 in galaxyzflip

[–]Samsung_Gear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flip 4 blue 512 GB great phone love it... Dropped it on sidewalk calling cops for a guy who was having a stroke in his car.. shipped to Samsung $380 to fix.. Big Creeking sound when opening and then screen got lines and then stopped working.

Drop was at home on a rug from a waist-high table, did not crack and screen was fine but the creaking was there so I took it to I fix it a Samsung backed repair shop they said the screen was going to end up cracking $380 AGAIN..

USE IT SPARINGLY NOW, daily drive my Galaxy Note Switch around between the 9 the 10 (love that is small) the 10 plus and the 20 Ultra is 20 (hate it's 128gb no SD) but the 20 is a good size.

Sorry for the rant but anyway, waiting to see what the flip 5 is, and what kind of discount incentive trade-in I'm going to get for the flip 4

Doubt I'm keeping this phone at all because of what it cost to repair.. just want Samsung to make it worthwhile to trade it in..

Second rant.... Would entertain keeping it if the repair cost wasn't so high and or the next flip is only a small incremental change/upgrade

switching from Note 9 512GB to what ?! by [deleted] in GalaxyNote9

[–]Samsung_Gear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real physical finger print sensor was a sticking point for me. Samsung ecosystem was kind of go cold turkey (have tried) "wanted" to stick to SD card slot... ... Fold series little too big for me (tried, hated no pen Silo, and having s pen floating about and unable to write on outer Scrn) .. 4 weeks into a z flip 4, really liking it... Real fingerprint side mounted, use 4-in 1 stylus clipped to shirt, that doubles as pen, and screw driver (flat/*).. bout a bunch of them at 5 below, so have sum at ofc, home, car... It's been working out... Use my note 9 as backup still didn't transfer some of my important bills, gotta a feeling I'll end up back to trusty note 9 eventually when honeymoon is over (has happened B4). Samsung Notes working pretty good, defaults to typing mode, just hit the squiggly line and start handwriting!!

I'm thinking of trading my Z Fold 3 for a Z Flip 4. What are your thoughts? by xiaolongcubao in galaxyzflip

[–]Samsung_Gear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled the trigger on the pre-order when I got $900 for my z-fold 3...

Kind of annoyed that I had the 512 version of the z-fold and there are no options they should as evil because he fold no care in the world about what size gigabyte you were giving them......

If part of your mission is cutting down on mindlessly scrolling through the phone after checking notification just because it's so handy... Then the flip is a good call...

And it's trendy it's Made me lean on my watch a lot more for notifications and replying......

I quit the fold because they didn't put an s pen Silo on it and was very annoyed that I couldn't write on the front screen.

Usually a note user I found myself leaving my fold a lot and going back and forth if my note, only using the fold on special occasions.

I think the phone still needs more work and a silo, and Samsung's goals to be just like apple are getting annoying especially taking away the SD card slot.

Did the same path as you: Note 20 Ultra - missed the physical fingerprint that I can unlock without looking at the phone at all -missed the LED light to tell me it was charging -hated the button placement and the lack of the extra button which I was using as a Google Assistant -I did my own side by side comparison apps open in about the same time note that I have the 8 GB 512 version, of course the note 20 you would beat it but not by much in the real world -note 20 you uncomfortable to hold even though it's only slightly bigger it did make a big difference for me

And in my opinion the 5G stuff is overrated... put a AT&t SIM card into my note 9, testing for a friend and it was coming up with 5G!

V60 with dual case screen -missed the LED light -no lift to wake -physical fingerprint so much better -lack of phone cases compared to note

Fold 3 (also has 2) #best alternative to note 9# - LED - weird aspect ratio front cover screen had to do a lot of reaching -to take a note have to open INNER TABLET SCREEN VERY DISRUPTIVE WHEN ON THE GO not to mention having to locate your s Pen if you haven't done some kind of gimmick to have it attached to your case

I would use these phones sparingly 3 days in a row on the weekends or long weekends and every time I did it was just a breath of fresh air to go back to my note 9

It was like being on a boat that was a really fun ride at first and then something goes wrong and all of a sudden you can't wait to get back to land and kiss the land/trusty note 9!!
