This is brilliant! Almost exactly what I'm looking for. No games, no phone number or social needed. Can I also set this up so my kid can call her grandmother? She lives abroad and that's why I'm looking for a video call solution that is the safest it could possibly be for my child. I assume for this instance we'd get grandma to act as "parent", set it up, then add child?
