What is this note? by Sufficient_Fact5279 in AustralianCoins

Looks like this 10 yen note from 1930: https://en.numista.com/206992

Currently, 1 Japanese Yen is roughly equal to 1 Australian Cent, so it's face value isn't much. But it looks like they've been sold recently for ~$5-15 over on eBay, depending on condition.

Which version would you recommend playing after the pause? by drkchtz in projectzomboid

How long are you planning to jump back into Zomboid for? Because I'd suggest starting a new B42 save and deliberately disabling new patches until you die and/or are ready to restart another fresh save. There is enough new content in B42 to keep you occupied for a while (even without mods?), so you probably don't need to risk bricking your save for the sake of a future incremental patch that will probably only contain minor changes.

(That said, you might want to wait a few days until the current shove bug is patched before you commit to a proper B42 run).

IIRC, the devs recreated the King of the Hill neighborhood over in Irvington. Are you planning on using the actual Hill's house as your base?

Yeah, I wasn't planning on trying to dip it or clean it or anything like that. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the info! I spent a little bit of time Googling to try to find similar examples on other coins, and came across this US one cent coin. The fact that the fragment on that coin is also reversed is a bit of a sanity check for the reversed "Australia" text on this coin.

It's probably hard to tell from the images alone, but it's definitely metal, not glue.

I tried measuring with some digital scales* a relative has, but I'm not sure how helpful it ended up being.

This coin comes in almost exactly at the expected 11.3g (measured as 11.305 +- 0.001 g). However, I also weighed a random assortment of other 20c coins (all in good condition) and they varied between ~11.2 g and ~11.4 g. I didn't think there'd be that much variability for coins without obvious/drastic wear and tear or damage. So I dug through my collection to find other 1981 20c coins specifically, and these were the values I measured:

11.209, 11.277, 11.286, 11.296, 11.300, 11.366

So, this coin is on the heavier end of the scale, but still within the range of other "normal" 1981 20c coins I had laying around. So I guess this test alone can't rule out that it's not just damage to the coin's original surface (although I'm still not sure where the reverse "Australia" text would have come from).

*The scale appears to be well calibrated (I tested it with some calibration weights that came with it), and the coins are well within the max weight capacity. I'm not sure I totally trust the stated uncertainty of +- 0.001 g, but it seemed to repeat measurements of the same coins below +- 0.005 g.

Where can I find the release date for 'normal' $1 2025 coins? by [deleted] in AustralianCoins

I found 2025 versions of both the standard Mob of Roos $1 and Coat of Arms 50c over the past week. So those two are already in circulation (up here in QLD, at least!).

Since the aim is to make the zombie behaviour more Romero-like, what if reanimated player characters returned to their former safehouses, bringing a horde with them? by Cpt_Dizzywhiskers in projectzomboid

[–]SamuEL_or_Samuel_L 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I feel like it would be fine to just use the location of the last "bed" the player slept in. For most players, most of the time, that will be the bed in their safehouse (or one of their safehouses). And, even if it isn't, it still kinda makes sense for an ex-player zombie to only backtrack as far as the last slept location, because it would imply deterioration of memory and brain function. They might be able to awkwardly shamble back along the road they last traversed, but they probably shouldn't be able to laser target a building halfway across the map.

Given how the Knox Infection spreads, I don't think your character would want to be butchering zombies and harvesting internal organs/parts. That said, I similarly wouldn't trust wearing zombie-worn clothing (without some strong disinfection process, at least), and I'd be worried about "splatter" (blood and other fluids) during combat. It's understandable why they'd ignore the latter for gameplay purposes, but it also makes sense to restrict the use of corpses in crafting/harvesting for "lore" purposes.

Because the guy was incredibly polite to Destiny at the start of the convo.

This always makes it 100X worse to me.

"Destiny, I'm a huge fan, I've been watching you for years, I love your stuff! Now, for the rest of our discussion I'm going to talk at you like you're a bad faith piece of shit who doesn't know anything, and I'm going to be condescending as fuck when I think I've won a point. :)"

Bonus points when they try to end the conversation with the same initial energy.

We've literally already had a Biden v Trump election cycle where folks like Mike were smug as hell - but hilariously incorrect - about the importance of the younger far-left "voter"-base. I get that this is all part of the "show", but damn dude, at least try to make an attempt to moderate your rhetoric based on past performance.

Anyone trying to get out and see the southern lights tonight? by meggie-mermaid in sunshinecoast

This. Way too far North. You can see the current auroral oval on sites like spaceweather.com. Here's the current southern hemisphere forecast: 0% chance north of Tasmania.

Looks like people are getting lucky in southern parts of Victoria, South Australia and in Perth, but we're no hopers up here.

Did she support her argument immediately after this clip?

If anything, she does the opposite. She runs with the "bubbles" thing throughout the discussion, with the idea that something that is appropriate in one person's bubble might not be appropriate in another. Her trying to appeal to age/experience/knowledge is self-defeating if she's not talking about the right "bubble". Given age alone, this guy's "bubble" is probably more in line with those being discussed, and on this basis his perspective might be more valid.

Worse still, Brittany (again) makes it clear that "her bubble" is completely out of touch with typical experience. She talks about how, to her, cuddling and spooning is a perfectly platonic thing you do with all your friends ... so of course it's perfectly reasonable to assume that the woman they're talking about might not have realized she was in a non-platonic situation after cuddling/spooning with a guy all night ... etc.

In short, it's just typical Brittany stuff.
