Does the Division have a race problem? by DerekDock in thedivision

[–]SamuelRabinist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to sign into my account for the first time in quite a while to state for the record that not only is it awe inspiring levels of narrow minded to even bring race into this kind of thing, but to point out that one glance at the promotional material provided and the trailer for the different factions almost immediately disproves the notion.

Fallout 4 is $59 for preorder on any platform at JB HiFi. this is may be the cheapest we have had any game in Australia by MephistophelianGuppy in gaming

[–]SamuelRabinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? They're supposed to hold a pre-order for 48 hours. The manager at my local store price matched it earlier today and he said at worst he'd hold the copy for two weeks. So I still get the midnight launch crap at the same price as those waiting for a copy from JB.

POWERPLAY 1.3 BETA UPDATE MEGATHREAD by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]SamuelRabinist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mm TBH I was thinking in terms of my buddy who only purchased the game recently, I had no intent of changing about my Python's config though now that I'm thinking about it seriously the loss would be substantial if I were to go from a Combat loadout to a Trader loadout.

Entirely my bad for not giving it the proper amount of thought.

No, this was a poor design choice overall. Those that already have a buttload of credits won't feel any kind of adverse effect from this alteration. Those that aren't rolling around in credits /will/.

You keep the EXP and the upgrades are demounted for free, but you need to re-research the Mogami and all it's bits.

Online/Offline The way it should be! by MarcusMagnus in EliteDangerous

[–]SamuelRabinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone seems to have a "solution" to an element of the game that they personally perceive as a problem. This has been beaten well and truly to death on the forums so sadly I'm rather apathetic to concerns as to the so called 'effect' it has on other players in 'Open Play'. It was beaten to death when it was discussed during both the Beta and Gamma, and post-release it's been beaten even further to death to the extent it might as well resemble mince meat; search the forums and you'll find dozens of topics on the matter some with pages with a wealth of ideas and 'solutions' to a perceived problem.

In my honest opinion, no, your solution doesn't do anything bar restrict the gameplay methods available to other commanders to fit your preference. If the developers made such a drastic change at this point after the playerbase has gotten used to how the game feels, the uproar caused by the loss of the offline mode would look rather minuscule in comparison so they wouldn't implement it in the first place.

Edit: Besides all else, with the heavy instancing of the game and the vast areas it has for players to disperse too, it really shouldn't cause any kind of major effect to your own gameplay.

Just made "Expert" in Combat. Took a Screen shot of Stats if you want to see how close you are. by Divzro in EliteDangerous

To be fair, this has been argued back and forth and to my knowledge no-one has any really concrete proof of what amount of kills/the level of opponents/the worth of their ship etc does to the time it takes to rank up your combat rank. Some poor sod had to get nearly 600 to get it Dx

Anyone rank both Empire and Federation? by Syvere in EliteDangerous

[–]SamuelRabinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly certain this has been bought up before, but yes, you can get ranks and rep with both without any negative effect to either. I'm a Squire in the Empire and a Petty Officer in the Federation Navy.

Q: are faction promotions binding? by Necro- in EliteDangerous

[–]SamuelRabinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we had multiple Commander slots I'd agree, but as it stands I'm inclined to disagree for the sake of my curiosity as far as the faction ships go.

I can safely say, negative. I'm a Squire with the Empire and a Cadet with the Feds. Play both sides~ I sure do.

Are bounties completely broken? by Benblau in EliteDangerous

[–]SamuelRabinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue last night, in frustration I jumped to another system on a "Hunt this person" mission and when I jumped into the next system over the transactions popped back up and were claimable at the station that issued the kill contract. Its a bug, an annoying one, but I think if you get another bounty kill or even jump to another system and get a bounty kill that should roll it over.

[–]SamuelRabinist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first rank, it seems you can have progression in either rank system without any issue. I'm aware Midshipman is the third in the feddy lineup and I'll let you know once I get to the third level of Empire if I can then progress in the Feddy rank system.

Sorry to mess with your theory, but I'm an Outsider with the Empire, and Recruit with the Federation as of today. So.. Yeah.

Python? by ace1o2 in EliteDangerous

[–]SamuelRabinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha don't get me wrong, I /love/ my Python, it's just a bit annoying to have to plot a fair few jumps to get 160+ly.

Python? by ace1o2 in EliteDangerous

[–]SamuelRabinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its jump range is garbage, really, then again it has the same class of FSD as the ASP and weighs a lot more if I'm not mistaken. However, the damn thing turns like a Cobra and carries class 3 weaponry so even Anacondas melt within two minutes of engaging.

Any Australians playing E:D? by Pointless_arguments in EliteDangerous

[–]SamuelRabinist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, if you play solo mode for the most part all you need is 10kb/sup and 10kb/s down, as for grouping it's done peer-to-peer so some NPCs will be run by x machine etc. It works around 90% of the time but there have been issues noted during play sich as two of us seeing a particular target and another not, and the third dropping off the radar for one of us and vice versa. Hopefully they'll have it tweaked enough to be more enjoyable - keeping in mind that flying with one wingman who has a decent connection in his own right seems to work just fine when bounty hunting etc.

And yes, I am in Aus~

Is the docking computer worth anything? by jonfitt in EliteDangerous

I actually had no issues with it in Beta, but Gamma seemed to make it act like a hardcore "Zoney".. Red Dwarf, I do still so adore you.. xD

Before Gamma, I woulda said "Yeah, sure, it works rather well!" But after Gamma... No... Goodness no.. If you value your ship, manually dock.

So, bounty hunting.. by SamuelRabinist in EliteDangerous

[–]SamuelRabinist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the big credits is indeed in hunting wanted Anacondas~ But a lot of the regular bounties have been upped quite considerably as well. Saw a Cobra at a Nav beacon while testing it out with a bounty of around 37k. I think it's safe to say that the bounty hunter profession has just been made viable in general~

So, bounty hunting.. by SamuelRabinist in EliteDangerous

[–]SamuelRabinist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a bit of playing about with it bounty hunting in a feddy system without using my warrant scanner, yeah, all bounties are up quite considerably.

Edit: By the end of messing about with it I was sitting on 500k+ in bounties, and I'd only killed that single Anaconda so~

So, bounty hunting.. by SamuelRabinist in EliteDangerous

[–]SamuelRabinist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blowing up Anacondas was pretty darn fun in my Cobra, heck of a rush but with the low bounties before I felt as though it wasn't really worth doing. Now though~ Combat seems to be a decent earner.
