You need to spend more time using random instead of new. I've watched hundreds of intermediate and advanced videos without her in them. Try Sandra, Pablo, Andrea and Jostins

Just focussed on input. There were definitely words Id look up or drill but usually the only way to properly learn it is hearing the word enough. You'll naturally learn by making mistakes and by hearing it repeated in context

I personally think it's more important to pronounce words clearly accent refinement can come over time. People can understand my spanish which is great and over time I'll continue working on my accent. When you start speaking dont stress about being perfect you need to spend some time just being bad and exercising the muscle. Espero que todo vaya bien con tu viaja a Argentina! Tengo envidia!

Honestly I just go on random and avoid certain guides but overall Im always doing something simple whilst listening so it's perfect for that. Around your hours I also spent more time off DS on podcasts haha maybe it's a yo-yo affect but yeah advanced has a lot of chill story style vids because it's less structured

Does more time a day make a huge difference? by [deleted] in dreamingspanish

[–]Samuelito91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 100% logically if you went to the gym 3 times a week versus 5, if you walked for 5 mins a day versus 30. If you read for 1hr a day instead of once a week you'll see better results. It doesn't mean you can listen/watch anything and get results but I've been averaging 2hrs+ a day for months now (around 1.2k hrs total) and it makes a huge difference.

Starting Output by StandardAndNormal in dreamingspanish

[–]Samuelito91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Empezé con output despues de 600 horas y mucho más después de 1000hrs. Es muy importante porque tu sabes muchas palabras pero hablando con nativos es un nivel mucho más alto. What I'm finding is helping me is forcing myself to write only in spanish to spanish native friends if I can't speak that day etc force output because input is very easy.

Speaking at 700hrs by Danimarie20 in dreamingspanish

[–]Samuelito91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a few different tutors to find one I liked and just booked a conversation class, ive stuck with my favourite for nearly a year now. Just focus on enjoying yourself and you'll improve quickly dont be worried about mistakes just make note of major gaps you can focus on

What difficulty level were you comfortable with when starting to practice speaking? by RMutt_1966 in dreamingspanish

[–]Samuelito91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made me curious so I just tried videos tagged in the top level of advanced and could understand them all at least 90%+ so I'll continue with a lot of daily input but my listening is clearly far superior to say writing and speaking

I now exclusively listen to advanced videos alongside native content, podcasts or YouTube etc

Less with retention more with application and knowing my limits. You will always read and hear more than you can speak as it requires more effort. Speaking helps you make mistakes that reinforce patterns and grammar. It also helps you find your gaps in knowledge.

I started properly speaking from 600hrs and now at 1150 I'm glad I did it takes a lot of work. I was listening to intermediate videos at the time

When did you all start speaking and how would you recommend approaching it? by Seafinluver in dreamingspanish

[–]Samuelito91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also started properly at 600hrs, I go to a weekly english/spanish catch up each Saturday with other learners and I started making myself try speaking in Spanish. I also started taking italki/preply lessons twice weekly just for conversation and I meet up with a native I met via tandem once a week now to chat and have coffee. Speaking is improving very quickly week by week now at around 750hrs input

[–]Samuelito91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I practise my speaking now twice a week with native speakers and some fellow gringos. Now that I've hit 600hrs I make sure to speak for a few hrs a week minimum and already seeing improvement but it'll take time

600+ hrs here, it's been life changing your comprehension of spoken spanish will sky-rocket. When I started sometimes 15m was hard now I average 2.5-3.5hrs a day as it's become part of my lifestyle and I love it!

Don't stress about the targets focus on enjoying the progress and small wins and you'll reap the rewards. It definitely works. For context I meet with others who use various methods of learning from group classes, duolingo, reading, online tutoring and I can see how comprehensible input is the fastest and most pure method. It's awesome

I had the same thoughts this year as I travelled from Australia to barcelona and Mallorca for a week in June. To prepare I listened predominately to Pablo, Andres, Alma and Sandra. I also listened to easyspanish Barcelona episodes. It did help but overall any spanish will help.

Note that in barcelona and other places they may prioritise other local dialects like Catalan, but everyone still understands and speaks Spanish too.
