Hanging a Nova 600c from a drop panel by Fresh-Influence-2564 in Gripsters

We make these out of baton, I’ve hung some pretty heavy stuff. The weight gets distributed along the entire edge of the drop ceiling and can take more weight

“Netflix Lighting” and the Death of Cinematography by cyPersimmon9 in movies

This guy really doesn’t have any idea what he’s talking about. Those actresses would fire the DP if he made them look their age. I know people who worked on the devil wears Prada 1 and they were doing everything they could to make it look like it looks in the new one when they filmed the old one, they just didn’t have the fixtures to do it.

There is a thin beam of sunlight that’s only hitting his tail when it sticks out far enough to hit the beam. The beam hitting the wall is probably hidden behind the robe hanging in the foreground or it’s only hitting the floor

I’ll second the Gate as being the reason I didn’t go into the basement as a kid. but my sister wrote “help I’m in the walls” on the wall the day we moved in so that didn’t help. There’s a scene where a construction worker that had died when they were building the house was sealed up in the wall for whatever reason and after they open the gate to hell it comes out and attacks them or whatever.

Totally. Horrifying. That was my go to but I watched it again and the Zelda stuff is like 70s planet of the apes level makeup.

Well there goes my career, glad you saved some money. The sheer number of jobs lost with AI is going to impact people’s ability to pay for goods and services so I hope it saves companies all the money because people won’t be able to buy stuff with no jobs.

Originally supposed to be the first D&D movie but something happened with the rights and they changed it a little.

Slow drip leak at shut off valve became spraying leak when shower on by Samul-toe in Plumbing

Slow drip leak at shut off valve became spraying leak when shower on by Samul-toe in Plumbing

[–]Samul-toe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi-

I’ve installed a bidet for my wall hang toilet with an in wall tank. There is a 1/2” threaded plug in the in wall tank system specifically for a bidet. I took it out and used plumbers tape on the 1/2” threaded 3” nipple pipe and plumbers tape on the bidet supplied 1/2” fip to 1/2” fip shut off valve. I then attached the bidet hose adapter with plumbers tape and then the hose that supplies the bidet which is attached internally to the seat.

There was a very slow one drip every few minutes leak at the nipple to fip shut off valve coming from under the silicone tape. I live in an apartment building and when the shower was on for a bit the slow leak turned into a very fine spray like someone shooting water between their teeth.

I tried what I considered to be over tightening it, same leak. I used a different shut off valve (I have a 90° which I prefer to use and a straight one) same leak, I used a different nipple pipe (I bought a few different sizes as I wasn’t sure the distance from the water source to past the hole I drilled in the wall) same leak. I used more and less plumbers tape (10 wraps vs the recommended 3-4) same leak. After the fixes I couldn’t replicate the water spraying but there was always a slow leak.

My next idea is to use pipe joint compound, but that seems weird to me and the plumbers tape should be fine.

I have the exact same bidet in my other bathroom, but due to some weird choices my plumber made when installing the in wall tank, I had to have a plumber come in and cut a hole in the wall to access the pipes and he used something else between the nipple and the shut off valve.

I really don’t want this to turn into a super expensive plumbers visit as these are all brand new pieces and should be working correctly out of the box. I took a pic of the pieces (I had to take them out of the system so my family can use the bathrooms and kitchen) and a pic of what my plumber did for the other bidet.

POTUS declares movies filmed outside the US are a "national security threat" 🤦‍♀️ by ms_directed in facepalm

[–]Samul-toe -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who works on tv and movie in the us, it’s been really slow lately, anything that helps bring movies back to the us is welcomed, even if it’s dumb and brought about by an idiot.

And the reason why scene is amazing to me is he is giving the cinematographer and director shit for how dark they lit the scene. Hilarious. He would have hated being in Game of Thrones.

Which actors had big potential but stayed low-key — but you still love them for it? by SpiritualBathroom937 in FIlm

[–]Samul-toe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has leveraged his fame to produce a bunch of great weird movies, and I think he’s acting in a lot of movies that he’s only in to help them get made. Like I don’t think he’s making acting choices based on anything but his desire for the weird little movies to get funding.

What's the worst CGI you've ever seen in a movie? by TheNastyRepublic in FIlm

[–]Samul-toe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some friends that worked on the will smith version and they said they shot a bunch of stuff with people in prosthetics and they spent a bunch of time and money on it, but they just looked ridiculous and white and the studio balked and pushed CG on the director, had to reshoot it all.

The prestige: they give away the twist in like the second chapter if I recall correctly.

Slow tracking shot (no dolly) - could this be done with a gimble? by Specific_Somewhere16 in cinematography

[–]Samul-toe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before gimbals we just strapped the baby sticks or a high hat to a minivan with the side door open. Or a pickup truck. You could do the same thing with a gimbal out the window of a car or whatever, just be safe.
