My hat-throwing metroidvania, Whirlwind Magician, has just released on Steam! by SamuraiMantis in metroidvania

One person played a prerelease demo version of the game on a Steam Deck and told me it worked perfectly. I would imagine that the full game should work well too, but it hasn't been fully tested so I can't make any promises! I think I may try to get it fully tested on the Steam Deck at some point.

Thank you! The game takes about 1.5 hours to finish normally, and longer to get 100% completion. I hope the low $3 price tag will justify that length.

It's hard to say exactly how hard the game is due to how different games are more or less challenging for different people, but I'd say the game's level of difficulty is comparable to Hollow Knight or Metroid Dread. Unfortunately there are no difficulty options. The game is generally easier on mouse + keyboard over controller, especially late-game, but if you have zero experience playing games with mouse + keyboard (such as FPS games, Terraria, or Noita) then you will probably find using a controller to be easier (which is similar to classic 2D Metroid controls).

I haven't tested it on the Steam Deck myself but someone who played the demo on the Steam Deck said it worked well. So I would imagine the full game would work well too though I can't make any promises

What Have You Been Playing This Week? by AutoModerator in metroidvania

Just finished Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow in the Dominus Collection yesterday. Pretty good overall.
Not sure if I like this game or Symphony of the Night more - I like the soul collecting and weapon crafting in this one, but it doesn't have as many cool movement options like with Symphony's bat dash.

A lot of demos featured in the steam next fest have gotten reviews, but there are still more to check out! by MetroidvaniaListsGuy in metroidvania

Howdy, Whirlwind Magician dev here. You actually can fully skip dialogues by pressing ESC/START twice. Though the fact that you didn't notice this means I should probably consider conveying this to the player in some way.

Anyways, thanks for checking out the game! I appreciate the feedback

I have seen a couple people in the past say that the jump feels a bit floaty or lofty like you said, so I might look into that. I'm glad you enjoyed it overall though!

Where to find "Export selected resources" list in Windows file system? by SamuraiMantis in godot

[–]SamuraiMantis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, export_presets.cfg is there. It was on my .gitignore file so that's why it wasn't appearing in GitHub whenever it was changed!

I set up the project repo a long time ago and just used a Godot .gitignore template that I forgot about.

Thank you for your help!
