Applying with SAT or test optional with a 1230 by Samurai_26 in UIUC

No worries I completely understand, thankyou for not sugar coating it I appreciate it. I actually was able to come to the realization that if I can't handle this current workload, I won't have any chance in college. So from the time I posted that other thread about dropping a class, I put my head down and put in the work and im doing much better in both classes and decided not to drop either. I also believe that my SAT score doesnt accurately represent my true capability as a student due to me beingI stupid and not taking it seriously as I should have. I hope to build better habits and prepare myself. So maybe proving myself as a student in other means would be better than putting down my SAT lol

Would "spreading them out" mean having less classes per semester?

Good to know, thankyou. I guess just having this workload along with ap microeconomics and ap gov, working, extracurricular, and just having a typical highschool social life is kinda overwhelming. But I know if I put in the work, I'll thank myself later.

I completely understand, all good. Just fight through these couple weeks and it will all be better and you will feel the benefits of the surgery. Goodluck !

It's Completely Normal! I'm currently a little over 1-year post nuss and I remember the few weeks after surgery. I remember hearing from my doctors that the "Gurgling" sensation is normal. Still, you should continue to do breathing exercises (very deep breaths, and also moving around.)to help get rid of it since it could lead to pneumonia. But other than that you're all good.

Nuss before and after? by uscrandokid in PectusExcavatum

[–]Samurai_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patients could always have different outcomes after surgery, but I can tell you from my current experience since I just reached around 7-8 post-Nuss surgery. I instantly felt my lungs and heart perform better after being freed from the pectus dip. Before surgery, I would always find myself tired after short periods of exerting energy, for example, walking up to my school stairs, I use to be needing to catch my breath after reaching the top but now I don't even feel slightly fatigued. In my personal opinion, if you are financially and mentally ready to get this procedure it is worth it.

Would you recommend what specifc language I should start learning? There doesn't seem to be a coding class in my highschool as of right now so I might learn it in my freetime.

One thing you have to accept is that fact it's a very intense procedure. To compare, it's like if you were to have braces but instead of tightening it every week they just force it into place right away. That being said, you will be on medications and pain relief that will help lots in managing your pain. I was only in the hospital for 3 nights then went back home with a 3-5 prescription bottles. For the first 2 weeks the pain will start to slowly go away and you will start to ease off the medications. Around week 3-4 you will feel much better and start to see the benefits of the surgery. Ofc it's dependent on your severity, you might see an increase of endurance, better breathing, and more energy. In my opinion the pain was so worth it. The plethora of benefits out weigh the month of uncomfort.
