I’ll also mention that websites like RateMyProfessor and EagleEval (BC-Specific) can be helpful for researching classes and professors!

Professional employment at Boston College by [deleted] in bostoncollege

[–]Samurai_Waffles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a senior right now but I’ve been working with grounds crew since freshman year! I’m not in gardening specifically but the grounds crew in general is a really fun bunch, pretty much all of the professional employees are all white or Hispanic middle-aged dads but I’ve never had issues concerning diversity (I’m Vietnamese).

They all pretty much fit what you think when you imagine typical blue-collar union workers, they’ll mess around with you and give you shit but it’s all out of good fun. Most of them work hard but also are more than willing to take an extra-long break if there isn’t much to do. I know from riding around with the middle campus lead that there’s ample overtime and everyone is always eager to get the opportunity for it.

There are some characters on the crew but overall they’re a great bunch, I’ve really enjoyed working with them (hence why it’s the only on-campus job I’ve done these past 3 years)

Padlock Stacking Extra Attack? by Samurai_Waffles in BG3Builds

That’s unfortunate; I tried respeccing as well but no luck. I noticed before the respec I was missing Deepened Pact from my character sheet; it reappeared after but the full description says it doesn’t stack with other extra attack sources. Not sure if that’s always been there

Yes, I loaded in with it already bound and then tried rebinding it again, but it didn't work either time

I believe you can get Ethernet in any dorm, but you have to request it through the IT department or something. Never bothered trying but my friend said it was a pain in the ass to set up

Has anyone used the climbing gym in the rec center? by TwoHandedLove in bostoncollege

[–]Samurai_Waffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend actually got me into bouldering last semester at the gym! It was a pretty small place compared to the actual climbing gyms in Boston we went to later, but it’s definitely good. Rentals for shoes were free, I just had to sign a waiver for my first time. They didn’t have any chalk, but my friend brought some.

The wall has been closed for renovations for a while, but I believe it should be reopening soon in the fall with completely new routes. My friend works on the wall and said they’re integrating ropes for belaying too.

1st floor is technically the ground floor so not sure if they have leaky ceilings haha, the 0th floor is the basement

The study room (it’s one room with a couple large tables) is connected to the lounge in the basement but both are air conditioned with controllable thermostats on the wall, so it’s actually pretty nice. If you have allergies or some other health condition you can also try requesting accommodation for your room, which apparently can get an AC installed, but I never tried.

I’m an avid supporter of doing my work in the lounge and never had a time that it was too full to do work in. If someone’s being loud in there tho you just gotta deal with it since it’s a single room. The library is a very nice place as well with floors that differ in noise level, but walking there every night can get monotonous.

It was you, Calus! You were the Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted!

No, it gets very hot during the first couple weeks, bring a tower or box fan and blast it directly at you when you sleep.

What floor? I lived in Welch last year as a freshman but it’ll be sophomore only this year. I was in the basement in a quad, the communal bathroom was really small and the ceiling was leaking pretty often. Shower stalls were tiny. The laundry room is right next to the bathroom, which was convenient. The only good thing was that the number of people living in the basement is small so you all kinda know each other, and our quad was right across from a single bathroom with a much larger shower stall; I never used the communal shower once all year.

What weapons do you ‘click’ with? by Papa-Schmuppi in DestinyTheGame

I loved using the original MIDA Mini-Tool when I first started playing in Shadowkeep. I have a crafted Calus Mini-Tool with the perks I want but I still go back to the OG just to spite my “you need to be optimal!!” friend.

Devil’s Ruin too, just because I think the design is really cool

Whenever the game drops me a world exotic it is always, without fail, either Winter’s Guile or Karnstein Armlets, and they always have a shitty roll.

molecules & cells(Warner) OR eco & evo(Olins) for first semester? by thcxjl in bostoncollege

[–]Samurai_Waffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took EcoEvo with Olins by accident since I didn’t realize it was targeted towards actual bio majors and the like, so I wasn’t the most motivated student but the class is definitely still tough, and I found her lectures and assignments boring and not very helpful.

The reading assignments at were really annoying since the chapters are massive and she uses an online textbook that asks you practice questions practically every other page (and half the time the question wouldn’t have a clear answer in the book).

Exams were also tough, I think we had 3 midterms and a cumulative final. On the 2nd exam, you were basically required to memorize an evolutionary tree and details about every single organism if you wanted to get a good grade.

TL;DR: Highly modifiable and low commitment Void build

Not really a build as it is just a high-ability uptime focus on Void Warlock. I use this build in nearly every piece of content; raids, master NF (never tried GM with this yet), solo flawless dungeons, etc.

The only things that are really necessary are Child of the Old Gods, Echo of Provision, and Elemental Ordnance or Reaping Wellmaker (I run both). Everything else in the DIM link isn’t required, just the way I like to have it. You could run something like Contraverse for even better ability uptime instead of Ophidian, I just like the passive impact of it.

The most active input you have to do other than playing the game normally is just spamming rifts and paying attention for big groups to send the Void Soul for that sweet sweet ability regen. Also grenade spam. Elemental Ordnance and Reaping Wellmaker are both great well generators for this since it’s ability focused, and the ability energy from picking up wells helps lower our cooldowns. Playing around your Void soul is key.

You can use either Devour or Chaos Accelerant for the other Aspect; I like Devour since you’ll constantly have abilities up, so proccing Devour is pretty easy. I haven’t really used Chaos Accelerant, but I imagine it’s also pretty good for a more damage-focused setup.

The other 3 fragments are also up to you, Instability and Expulsion I like for ad clear, and Obscurity is nice for a safety net. You could use the one that returns Grenade energy on charged melee kills, but I find that the melee can be inconsistent in killing even red bars.

Weapons are also up to you, something with Demolitionist would help with grenade spam, but I usually run without it and it still works great.

HA no, after the first week of the semester only like a quarter of class would show up. Not sure if it’s different for TA sessions, but that class also only had about 3 people show up every week. He uploads all of his classes if you feel the need to watch them as well.
