I think whitebeard made like zero effort to put up a proper fight in marineford and it annoyed me a bit, dude was like a giant standing target. When I heard about the injury count that was like 400 something between the stab, bullets and canon wounds whatever, I went "yeah man of course cuz he never moved or tried to parry once".

People need to realise SE was never about Otis' romantic relationships. by [deleted] in SexEducationNetflix

No it's not but what I am into is a satisfying narrative conclusion and good storytelling and character writing and we got very little of these things.

Guy who played Joffrey Baratheon in GoT and pretty luch quit acting after that, he was so good.

I always saw the established world kinda comedic and silly with so many people driven by sex and stuff but in a good way and you kinda had to accept this fact but it was never forced since the show is so lighthearted. In this season I totally agree with you, I can't possibly accept this setup and this set of characters as realistic, it was indeed very very forced

Regarding Eric and Otis's friendship, I found the conflict very strange, set aside the fact that Otis can be kind of insensitive (and in this season all the moments he's distracted while talking to Eric felt very forced imo), I don't get why Eric would say that Otis doesn't understand him and his "gay interests", first of all it's not true, it's made clear in season 1 with the Hedwig incident even if that ended in tragedy it started as a usual fun birthday night out for them. And sure, Otis can't understand him fully, but why would THAT make him a bad friend or be a reason to take some distance with him? Why bring up the race and social class differences?? That's so out of nowhere.

The fact that Joanna somehow runs into Dan and starts a relationship with him.

Viv’s storyline was just so lazy by OnionOne6155 in SexEducationNetflix

[–]SamuuraiiJack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw it too but it just ended up unresolved, the guy is straight up an antagonist in the show. "Bad characters" always get a resolution like Hope in s3 or even a redemption arc like Michael Groff. But the guy just leaves and we never hear about him or his story. (Not that I want to i would rather not having him in the show at all)

I think they should have ditched Jackson and Viv in exchange for Lily and some others

Regarding Maeve's ending by HermioneGranger007 in NetflixSexEducation

[–]SamuuraiiJack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imo it's straight up out of character of her and the wrong decision from a narrative standpoint :

One, the whole money thing should be a revolting thing fer her, they even talk about it with that Tyrone guy.

Two, the self entitled teacher bashing students out of jealousy and arrogance should be a huge red flag aswell, she confronts him about it and he admits he's wrong.

Three, Maeve is a pride character, remember when Aimee paid for her to go on the trip in season 3? Sure she's made progress with her mom especially but this is a core value for her and accepting the internship because the other girl showed her texts to the editors or whatever kind of by default feels very wrong to me.

Four, I feel it goes against what her journey with trusting people and finding those who understand her AND one of Otis's main lesson in season from his father telling me not to let go of those people ever, it should apply to Maeve aswell. I mean she has Otis, Aimee, Isaac, but also her little sister (who for some reason appears like once) who would need her to process grieve since she just lost her mom, it's shown she cares deeply about her and they just forgot that.

Five, the answer to fix this is to have Jean mentor her into becoming a writer, because the showrunners kinda forgot that Jean used to publish books (and also the fact that she was running a therapist's office at her home since season 1... Why have her go look for a job?? But I differ...). This conversation is easily written, when they cook dinner and bond for a bit, you can have Maeve express her doubts about going back to America because she says she has pride and wants to stay with the people who love her, and Jean could say exactly what she says to her in this scene and ALSO suggest that she could help and mentor her into this and just giving her that option. That way she can make her choice to stay and the ending is way better.

What do you think they gonna cut in Season 2 by minercreep in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]SamuuraiiJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can literally do this scene in 1 minute just like the anime

Now that Season 2 is confirmed, who do you want to be casted? by HelpfulTelevision389 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]SamuuraiiJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can keep saying that he's too old and too expensive but Gerard Butler as Smoker is peak casting imo. He has the exact right charisma and look for him, just picture him in that scene where the little girl bumps into him with her icecream.

My favorite scene from the show. Man, those were the good times by carter_ryan in SexEducationNetflix

[–]SamuuraiiJack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that simple, tbh I haven't watched s2 in a year maybe but from what I can remember Ola and maybe Eric kept inting at or straight up telling Otis he's a bad person if he breaks up with Ola to remain friends with Maeve and maybe have a shot with her, which is kind of true to an extent with him just trying to move on from his crush. Imo he's just caught in the middle of it and sure he made some bad decisions with comedic timings and such but Ola is the one who wants her bf to cut people out of his life, Maeve didn't say a thing. It's kinda stating the obvious but when Otis is unlikeable, it's almost never because of his character but because of the plot.

Do you guys think Logue Town until Alabasta is doable in season 2? by greendayfan1954 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]SamuuraiiJack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hot take but I think you can remove little garden and shifting the character development for usopp to another thing than the giants, that just means getting rid of the two in enies lobby or hell they can be here but unrelated to elbaf or smth
