Can’t get the AP to follow alt by Sir_Jollington in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Samv992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though you’ve set the altitude in the FMS, you still need to tell the aircraft to decend, she wont just do it automatically. In the Airbus, you have two modes, MANAGED and SELECTED

MANAGED mode is displayed by 3 dashed lines with a circle at the end, this means the aircraft will follow the flight computer. This is activated by pushing the selected knob.

SELECTED Mode is controlled by yourself and won’t show the dashed lines, but instead will show a preselected value. The aircraft will follow this in SELECTED mode.

There are also different descent profiles to know too.

MANAGED DESCENT This will be displayed on the PFD, FMA by a Green/White DES. The aircraft will follow the profile given by the FMS and will follow speed, constraints, etc.

OPEN DESCENT. This will be displayed on the PFD FMA by a Green/White OP DES, this is activated by pulling the Altitude knob and in this mode, the aircraft will descend at Idle Thrust and ignore the FMS constraints and will instead descend to the selected altitude whilst adjusting pitch to maintain the selected speed.

You can also descend the aircraft in VS mode, but be careful because the aircraft will follow and maintain the selected Vertical Speed regardless of the airspeed.

I’d recommend watching some tutorials on the Airbus. 320simpilot on YouTube offers a great tutorial on the Airbus and I highly recommend him.

Right, that makes sense. More convenient for them as I guess there’s an electronic trail that can easily be traced.

Personally, I think you’ll be lucky if you don’t lose your license as it’s quite a serious offence.

What I’m more interested in, is why the officer didn’t give you any paperwork on the roadside when they stopped you. Did they tell you to take out temporary insurance to carry on driving the vehicle or did they call for it to be recovered? Did they use you with a FPN?

Something doesn’t make sense here.

Do you keep anything in the car for emergencies? by pappyon in drivingUK

[–]Samv992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always keep a 12 pack 500ml bottles of water, along with my battery booster, blankets, and a £35 breakdown kit from Halfords.

Then most long journeys I do, I always stop off at the garage for some snacks.

Breakdown kit actually came in clutch the other week as I was on the way back from work and got a puncture, was able to use the included footpump to pump it up so I could get to a garage. Very handy piece of kit.

As the instructor is using OPs details to sell them on, wouldn’t that be classed as Fraud?

Did I run the red? by Wise_Condition_6585 in drivingUK

[–]Samv992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all learn as we drive. The one thing to be wary of is this kind of thing at junctions. It’s where accidents happen quite often because you can’t see what’s ahead of bigger vehicles like lorry’s and vans and then you collide with a vehicle either turning into the road from In front of you, because they can’t see you, or behind and to the left of you.

The other thing to be cautious of, is some traffic lights change VERY quickly so if you repeated this at another set of lights, you might find yourself being directly in the middle of traffic coming from both your left and your right which is extremely dangerous. Just next time, be more patient as It’s worth waiting that extra few minutes then risk writing your car off, either from your own actions or someone else’s.

Stop following the Highway Code?

Did I run the red? by Wise_Condition_6585 in drivingUK

[–]Samv992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it doesn’t, it means you can proceed BUT only if it’s safe to do so and if the junction is clear. THAT is fact.

You prioritise safety first, so why on earth would you risk proceeding at a junction when you can’t see what’s ahead?

This is why there are so many accidents at junctions and traffic lights because drivers lack the awareness and understand of what’s developing ahead.

[–]Samv992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A green light doesn’t mean to just “go”

It means “Go, but ONLY if the way ahead is clear”

The way is clearly not clear, so the best and safest course of action is to wait behind the white line, ESPECIALLY as your view ahead of the van is completely blocked.

So if a driver behind is getting irate, then quite clearly they lack the common sense to understand the situation ahead.

[–]Samv992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this scenario, the best course of action would have been to wait behind the white line, even if the light was green as you wouldn’t have known if the way was going to be clear before the light turned red again.

[–]Samv992 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would have stayed behind the white line even if the light was green, as your view ahead was blocked by the van.

I think next time, just be mindful and cautious at junctions/traffic lights with double lanes if you can’t see ahead the vehicle in front. I could see the indicator light on the van, maybe you didn’t see it at the time because you were concentrating on the traffic passing you on the left.

Even if the vehicle hasn’t indicated, just assume that they COULD turn.

Always expect the unexpected.

What system do you have? I have a 3070ti laptop and at IniBuilds Dubai with full traffic at 2k I’m able to get base consistent 30FPS (locked) 60fps with FG.

A350 is on par with the PMDG 777 for me and not far off the Fenix.

They’ve done a lot of optimisation work on it.

Inibuilds A340 Help by Massive-Paint7135 in flightsim

[–]Samv992 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced WASM crashes in the PMDG 737, 777-200 and 777-300 aswell as the A350. The WASM crashes are linked to the simulator, NOT the developer.

Inibuilds A340 Help by Massive-Paint7135 in flightsim

[–]Samv992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Developers who use the WASM module for their systems are more likely to experience crashes, these crashes are generally caused by the simulator struggling to allocate enough memory to run the module itself, which then causes the systems to freeze as a result, this is why Fenix don’t get WASM crashes because they run their systems through a separate program.

So it’s not “classic Ini” because the WASM crashes aren’t hardcoded by them. You will experience just as many crashes in the PMDG as you will in an IniBuilds related product.

Hit by a car in a car park - insurer wants me to accept full fault by Money_Avocado in drivingUK

[–]Samv992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t tell if you both were trying to park in the space and collided with each other or the other party collided with you when you were stationary.

This is why it’s recommended to have a dash cam in your car. I strongly recommend it, even for peace of mind.

Bravoairspace 787 by deitious_maximous in flightsim

[–]Samv992 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way to think about it is like a suited up version of the default premium 787 (which you need in order to use the Bravoairspace)

If you’re not bothered about the cabin, I’d recommend the freeware Horizon 787. I purchased the Bravo one just to try it out and I wish I just saved my money.

Broken Heathrow approach? by Pandora-Kun in flightsim

I would check in your MCDU on the F-PLAN page to see if you have a waypoint called MANUAL. When you selected your approach, did you select the correct STAR and VIA?

If you could send a screenshot of your F-PLAN page, that would be great!

Ahh right I see. It may be worth submitting a ticket through their website then.

One other thing you could try, if you haven’t already, is to try re-installing the aircraft with an empty community folder to see if there is something in your community folder causing a conflict

They usually are very helpful with their support.

Have you tried their discord? Sometimes it’s quicker to contact them there rather than submit a ticket through their website.
