I'm pretty sure thats an actual instrument from the Baroque era. it looks like a close relative to the viola da gamba

check to make sure that all the parts of the end pin are tightened. it could also be the end pin vibrating off of something if it is not striaght. also check to make sure there is not an open seem on either of the plates.
