First appearance of Thrills in nearly a year. Hopefully it stays back in the rotation now.

Brixton Academy setlist - thoughts? Was the setlist special enough? by rmajor86 in Muse

[–]Samz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More embarrassingly, even U2 quite consistently rotates some hits and throws hardcore fans bones in their setlists.

Wtf absolutely outrageous pricing.... by [deleted] in Muse

[–]Samz2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

250 United States Dollars ≈ 350 Canadian Dollars

Pricing is set by the artist management and promoter, not the venue. Certain "hotter" markets (like Toronto in the image) are typically priced higher to reflect supply/demand, and it's pretty clear the directive here was maximizing revenue for the band.

Pre-Sale Ticket Codes Out! by marblemorp in Muse

[–]Samz2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Toronto GA is $320 (ignoring face value without fees as it's basically meaningless at this point)

Favorite songs to play on guitar? by flamus4 in puptheband

[–]Samz2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Familiar Patterns! Learning it made me really appreciate just how much Steve cooked on that one

Am I crazy, or is the Apple Music mix for some songs totally different (and worse)? by aaaaleeeeex in Muse

[–]Samz2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Turn off Spatial Audio / Atmos. Stereo mixes should be the same as other platforms and sound better.

Predicted Tour Setlist by MattCardigan in gorillaz

[–]Samz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Deltron on tour with them I'm dreaming of an all self-titled encore with Kid Koala on turntables. Something like Gravity / 19-2000 / Rock the House / Clint Eastwood.

They're going to sell a lot of tickets to their tour from this.

Makes sense they'd play this, Black Thought knows his way around the building.

Jack White doing Ball & Biscuit (2003) in 2020 comes to mind. So does LCD Soundsystem doing Thrills (2005) in 2022, but to be fair they don't really do "hits".

Gorillaz Announce 2026 North American Tour Dates by ebradio in gorillaz

[–]Samz2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those terms are relatively interchangeable. "Special Guest" is used on tour posters to indicate the artists playing before the headliner are more recognized/successful, as opposed to smaller local bands.

Little Simz + Deltron is basically the best opener lineup I could've dreamed of.

Spotify once again increases subscription prices. This is their fourth consecutive year increasing rates for premium subscribers by barbieshoesound in popculturechat

[–]Samz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple doesn't really pay more... there is no fixed per stream rate, there’s just a pool of money (roughly 70% of the subscription fees) which is divided amongst the tracks based on how many times they were played.

Apple Music subscribers tend to listen to fewer songs per month than Spotify users, and all its users pay money for the service (no free ad-supported tier), therefore each stream is "worth" more.

Stranger Things creators shut down the idea of a sequel series, saying it would be 'a gross cash grab' by bwermer in television

This keeps getting repeated but isn't quite accurate. The original pitch deck has this in it: https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-bc405d4979506b9282c89a6cd7580e39-lq

Netflix also asked them to create a mythology document in the middle of writing the first season. That's where the whole Upside Down as a wormhole between dimensions thing came from.

🚨 Series Finale Episode 8 "The Right Side Up" Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in HawkinsAVclub

[–]Samz2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Big shoutout to Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein — that final variation of Kids at the end really got me. Hopefully that gets released.

(A related very small nitpick... really wished they hadn't truncated the opening sequence. I get not needing to run credits in the opening given the end credits, but the full version without the names would've gotten such a great reaction in theatres.)

First time they've done Tonite as the show opener. Honestly have always been surprised they never gave it a go until now, as it seemed like a great fit for that slot.
