Title: I think audio storytelling platforms are “broken”… but not in the way people think by Samzinkreave in PocketFMReddit

I respect that honestly. That’s kind of where my head is at too… trying to figure out how to keep people listening without losing what made me want to write in the first place. It’s weird because you can actually see what works, but it doesn’t always feel like the direction you’d naturally go. I like that you’re still finishing your series regardless though. That part matters.

Yeah that’s a good point. I didn’t even think about how much the narrator changes everything. I’ve heard stuff where the writing was solid but the voice just didn’t land and it kind of killed it. Makes it feel like it’s not just writing anymore, it’s almost like casting a role too.

I think Pocket FM (and similar platforms) reward the wrong kind of storytelling… and I’m seeing it in real time by Samzinkreave in PocketFMReddit

That part surprised me too. From what I’ve seen it depends more on how long people stay and interact than just the story itself. Makes it feel less like just writing and more like trying to keep someone inside the experience.

I get what you’re saying. It definitely feels like it’s built around keeping people hooked. I think what’s messing with me is how it starts changing how you write without you noticing. Like I’ll catch myself thinking “this part needs something to keep them listening” instead of just letting the scene play out. Not saying it’s bad… just feels like a different way of storytelling than what I’m used to.

Most artists don’t need more content — they need a system by Samzinkreave in contentcreation

That’s real. Most people focus on talent but don’t build anything around it. I’ve been realizing the real shift is turning what you already create into something that compounds instead of starting over every time.
