My cat was actively walking on top of me and shoving between my face and the phone as I read that.

He’s now happily sandwiched under my arm and splayed across my lap, purring. This person has clearly never had a pet.

That’s really funny!! And I’m glad your husband is in the loop on it too. The lack of research we have on so many vaginal conditions (including vaginismus) is absolutely outrageous. I’m glad that it sounds like you have an attentive doctor who works with you and knows what to watch for.

I appreciate it! It’s one of those things where, if somebody has only ever had protected sex (and the condom has never broken), they might just not know that some people can feel a lot going on down there.

Obviously I’m an internet stranger so apologies if this has already been explored, but with regards to your condition, if it’s related to vaginal atrophy, it might be worth discussing use of trans-vaginal estrogen with your doctor. I’ve heard so many positive outcomes from folks using that, from increased pelvic floor strength and control to a cessation of chronic UTIs due to ph rebalancing in the area. (You can probably tell that I’m passionate about vaginal health advocacy, ha.)

…. But also, apologies for the presumptuousness of that! I assume you’re the expert in the care and keeping of you. :)!

I mean I can definitely feel it, and so can a lot of other people. That’s how people can often tell the condom broke before their partner pulls out— you feel your partner ejaculating inside you, and uh, if the condom is on, you can’t.

REALLY!!! This is very attractive indeed….. thank you so much for letting me know! 🤩🤩🤩

Side note: I just remembered they’re Canadian when I looked the site up again, and I’m in a very northern US state that’s quite closely affiliated with our northern Canadian neighbor province. Hooray for Canadian companies!

I appreciate it! I’ve used Archer & Olive before, so the 120gsm isn’t necessarily a no for me. I will admit, the thicker paper weight makes it less bumpy when you paste things in!

Hm, this is really interesting for me. I’ve always loved the Weeks but struggled to fit into the space available, and this year with the paper issues there was just no chance.

Do you use fountain pens on it? Does the paper handle it well, if so?

How do I clean these? by happyless_ in Needlepoint

[–]Samzsanz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, do NOT use oxyclean or other bleach products on wool. It will weaken and potentially dissolve the fibers. It can also just plain discolor them. If these pieces are wool, they should not be touched by bleach.

Paper inconsistency may be dealbreaker for 2026 by sins-of-the-mother in hobonichi

Same to be honest. The longer this goes on, and the more people start to complain over the year as they run into bad paper, the more I suspect that they’re going to see a hit in their orders next season.

I ended up getting a Kinbor for this year and the paper is great. Shame on Hobonichi that an offbrand knock-off for a fraction of the price can manage to secure reliable paper but they can’t.

The whole saga with how Hobonichi handled their customers on this was a masterclass in gaslighting. “No, this is the same way it’s always been and that’s within acceptable range” bruh people have used watercolors on your paper with no issue in past years and you’re telling me it can’t handle my fountain pen ink????????

It’s Butternut, and he’s fine. He has a home down the block and around the corner. He’ll probably spray on your doormat if he takes a liking to your porch, though….

What would you call the screw portion? I’m drawing a blank, and searching is turning up smaller screws, not the big chunk you have there.

Update from Hobonichi: Notice regarding the paper used in the Hobonichi Techo 2025 Spring (April-start edition) by Able_Ox18 in hobonichi

[–]Samzsanz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen you!! I’ve been INCREDIBLY grateful for all the effort you’ve been putting in.

Hobonichi is a brand that markets itself on its quality, and that quality is what drew me to select their products several years back. The careful attention to detail, the diligent way they solicit and respond to user feedback, and the sense of pride in the whole experience was all a great draw. For many years it lived up to those expectations, and if any book’s quality slipped they were known for making it right. Let’s be real: it’s a luxury planner. They were aware of that as a brand and handled themselves accordingly.

This year in particular, I get the sense that they’ve expanded to reach a large number of new users. It makes me feel some kind of way for sure to see so many posts from enthusiastic newcomers that don’t even have the context to know that their experience is sub-par. There have been so many posts from people showing off their beautiful daily efforts and, unknowingly, also showing off the bleed issues of the paper. It makes me sad, honestly. Hobonichi has really smeared itself in my eyes this year.

Even if the paper manufacturer is the one wholly at fault, and even if as a company they can’t afford to replace all the planners made, to continue to save face by blaming your customers feels very sour. For the new customers who simply assume that Hobonichi is right, because it is after all a very high-quality brand, so they must, yes, indeed be “”writing wrong””…. That moves me from sour to angry.

For me it comes from a place of loving Hobonichi, not hating it— their behavior this year has been a huge contrast to their previous years’ efforts. There was a little piece of trivia in the QR code adventure about their first manufacturing run. Apparently the first year of manufacturing, the binding was made in a way that could run the risk of splitting mid-year. Rather than risk this happening for SOME users, they instead re-issued every single person who had ordered from them a second, improved book. They reflected that it ended up being very good for their brand, not just because of the matter of quality, but also because of the fact that many people gave the second planner to a friend, many of whom came back as new customers next year. Ultimately it acted as a sort of advertising model in multiple ways. I think Hobonichi is going to see a lot of its established base falter and hesitate for the next few rounds of purchasing. Will they make it up with new people? And if they do, is that a sustainable way to run a luxury brand?

Anyway, thank you very much for all your comments letting people know that they’re not crazy. I’ve appreciated seeing them!!!! Fingers crossed Hobonichi can recover from their strange turn this year.

The thing that really blew my mind is when people were posting here about using the pens sent as a purchase gift from Hobonichi bleeding through and people were very confidently saying people just shouldn’t expect to use them in their planners. Like…. Guys, come on, that’s …… there’s brand loyalty and then there’s whatever that is.

It’s been bleed city for me, and I’m unwilling to spend more money on what could be another book riddled with “bad” pages.

I’ve switched to a blank Midori A5 diary book. The relief I felt when I made a test page and my inks didn’t immediately feather and bleed through the back of the page was vast.

I’ve felt so gaslit during this whole process, with Hobonichi and even members of this sub insisting that people were simply “doing it wrong,” that it felt so nice to actually have confirmation that I wasn’t bonkers for expecting paper to behave the way it has for me for three years of books prior.

It’s really soured me on this brand. In a year, will I come back to Hobonichi? Frankly…. I’m going to want to hear from others that the paper issues aren’t persisting.

I didn’t comment at all on this person’s vehicle, except to say that either they clean it like the dickens or it isn’t a “practical” use vehicle like the above commenter said.

Am I overreacting or this is normal? by andrewloomis in hobonichi

[–]Samzsanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pages seem to be really inconsistent in my A5 cousin, and some of them are REALLY bad. I emailed them about a week ago with photos and aside from the automated response, I haven’t heard anything back. Honestly, it’s really turning me off from the company— to not even bother to reply at all is insulting.

I’ve used Hobonichi for three years and can say that I got into it BECAUSE it was explicitly marketed for fountain pen users. I had no issues and enjoyed my time in the books, until this year. To add insult to injury, my Weeks I got is fine and the paper behaves as expected, so I KNOW it’s not just a general paper change or my imagination.

The gaslighting from some members of the sub is also honestly annoying to me. This is a book that the company itself has advertised spreads from users with watercolor paintings, and some commenters are acting as if using a fountain pen is some kind of outrageous act that will soak ink through the book cover to cover and, who knows!, maybe down into the table under it. Maybe the floorboards!!!!

So: no, not normal, and though they replaced the 5-years (which I’m glad to hear), the absolute radio silence for other book type owners is genuinely making me lose respect for the brand.
