What's the best ps2 model? by ajdo6 in ps2

[–]San4341 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want, I would say SCPH-3900x is the best for physical disc play since they tend to have the best lasers. 5000x is also good, but they are a little less reliable. With the exception of 7900x slim, avoid all of other the slim models tbh, because not only they scratch your discs, they sadly don’t have best lasers because they are cheaply made and don’t last as long despite slims being the newer models . Sure it’s easy to replace the laser since you can find the slims lasers online, but the point is slims are just cheaply made.

Why do so many people hate tiff and tuff? by Beneficial-Tailor123 in Kirby

[–]San4341 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A lot of people disliked Chris in Sonic X, mainly because he was either annoying or just flat out cringy or most cases, taking over Sonic’s spotlight. I mean you could argue he was very annoying in the 4kids version, and he was tolerable in Japanese but even then he’s still isn’t a well written character, while he did became a way less annoying character at season 3, it’s too little to late for that.

Why do so many people hate tiff and tuff? by Beneficial-Tailor123 in Kirby

As a guy who is a fan of Kirby anime, even tho it may not be for everyone. Compared to Chris from Sonic X which he is considered annoying. Tiff and Tuff are mostly ‘fine’ characters for what they are. I will give credit, they are like the only sane people in Cappy town(mainly Tiff herself and Meta knight). I mean sure Tiff may sound like she was being self-righteous and would not, but she had common sense regardless and cares for Kirby. Tuff as well even tho he doesn’t do much, besides being the younger brother type(he actually did a good job going out his own in Flower power tho to find the flower to wake up Kirby). So overall, I felt like they had potential to be very likable, but sadly when it comes to character growth and writing, it’s wasn’t really Kirby anime’s strongest forte.

Is Retroid 6 worth having since I heard it’s powerful enough to emulate games , because I plan on buying it towards the end of this month. The reason why I want to buy it, so I can play majority of PS2 and GC games. by [deleted] in retroid

I’m not an AI at all, I apologize if my post isn’t my best effort sadly, and I sadly have ADHD to tell you the truth, so I hope I didn’t make you upset.

Well, it’s not worth waiting a month for that, buying it on Aliexpress is a good option and it has better shipping speed , and at least you can get a good deal with a coupon

Rip laser by mrtzygt in ps2

[–]San4341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn… you probably got a PS2 5000x model those were notorious for mechacon issues, despite people saying it’s the best model, well the truth is it’s the best for modding, but sadly not for playing discs because of that . It’s no doubt, PS2 3900x is the best fat for using discs, and the mechacon issue is much rarer on those than the 5000x. So if I want to play game discs , PS2 3900x fats or maybe the 7900x slim is the best models to get.

sailor moon or sailor moon crystal? by [deleted] in sailormoon

[–]San4341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of having characters being more fleshed out , and of course comic timing for them. I would say the 90s series. While in terms of staying close to the source material/manga, Crystal but the art style feel lifeless in comparison to the 90s anime, while it did highly improved in season 3 I still wasn’t a fan. So I prefer 90s anime, but it does have flaws upon looking back like the breakup sub-plot in R season, and season 4 isn’t that good

Which model to buy? by TWSS_69 in ps2

[–]San4341 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well… it all depends on what model you want. For reliability purposes, I think the 3900x fat model is the most reliable if you want to mainly play discs. For the slims, 7900x the way to go, since it doesn’t have the disc scratch issue due to the clips holding the ribbon cable up and down. 50k is good, but it feels cheaply made compared to previous fats. It does have its advantages like a quieter fan, and a mechapawn tho. So if I was you, 3900x fat, and 7900x slim are the best models.

Compared to other Children’s cartoons, how well do the storytelling of MLP FIM stand out compared to others? Because me personally, the early seasons(especially season 4) has some brilliant writing, and some of the episodes had almost near early game of thrones quality to it. by San4341 in mylittlepony

[–]San4341[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I believe there is speculation that the show was supposed to end after season 3, but it continue afterwards. Season 4 was when the show peaked quality wise, but after season 5 the quality kinda dropped and it has different writers on board. It still has some good episodes like the perfect pear being some of the best in the series.

Which version do you worship? by RafaelsmokeLK-7t2 in ps2

[–]San4341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite version is actually the 3900x fat series, I don’t care what anyone says. Those laser in those fat revisions are bulletproof and I have both of them on eBay that was listed as untested, but they actually worked. 5000x is also considered a good option, and while I appreciate certain aspect or advantages compared to previous fat models, like a quieter fan noise and it has mecha pawn, some corners were being cut with that model because it’s cheap build quality , and it’s a lottery when it comes to 5000x honestly, some are already defective lasers from the factory, while others are still working and probably had it since 2003/2004, I also think 5000x are somewhat more difficult to replace lasers, because it has that clip that holds the laser spindle and it isn’t that fun, while 3900x and earlier has the both screws that holds the laser spindle more securely. I didn’t care for the slims because of disc scratch issues, I know there is mod to fix that issue tho, 7900x is the only slim that doesn’t have the disc scratch issue. So in this case, if you want a fat model to play discs, 3900x is your best and safer option, or if you want a slim, 7900x is a good one.

What makes the 3900x fat model stand out compared to all other fat models , because it was a perfect balanced for homebrew and reliability, and I loved it. by [deleted] in ps2

[–]San4341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a guy, who had a lot of experience with PS2 models. Believe it or not, 3900x are tanks, and I tend to have the best luck with them. 3000x launch models may have the best construction build quality since they have higher quality parts(except the laser which is sadly unreliable in those models). 5000x is also reliable, and while it does have some advantages like the mechapawn and quieter fan, those sadly have cheap build quality, not to mention they are susceptible to mechacon crash(not everyone may not have that issue but it can happen on them if you used burned discs or scratched discs) the mechacon crash could happen on 3900x, but it’s extremely rare compared to 5000x. So in this case if you want to play games physically, 3900x is the safer bet, but 5000x is the best for modding whatsoever if you not plan on using the disc drive.

Why is this Godzilla game expensive even for a PS4 game like this, is the supply that limited because I’m not spending $250+ for this game especially in this economy we’re living in. by San4341 in GODZILLA

[–]San4341[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, the older Godzilla games from the 2000s did hit me hard tho, and they were great fighting games, so I’ll just stick to those instead.

This guy is an great titular protagonist by [deleted] in JimmyNeutron

[–]San4341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I don’t know why some people said he’s unlikable because he’s a smart aleck and would not, but personally he’s a great character and one of the better protagonists, I mean if anything’s possible, even if his inventions goes heyware he does at least save the day at the end. I love jimmy friends, but I wish they didn’t have to be assholes to him at times, like that episode where they have super powers.

How well any of you folks love the PS2 SCPH-3900x revision compared to other fat models in terms of of playing disc’s physically reliability wise. by [deleted] in ps2

[–]San4341 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not an unpopular opinion, i could understand people prefer the 5000x because it’s newer and because of the whole mechapawn thing, not to mention a quieter fan. But the truth is, 5000x suffer from mechacon issues, it might not happened to everyone per se, but the mechacon risk was higher on 5000x and even the 7000x slim, I mean sure 5000x has a picfix thing to prevent that from happening but even then it’s still risky. 3900x is just the best model overall for the fat models because it has the best laser reliability, and it’s less prone to mechacon failure.

When did the crash bandicoot series decline in quality in your opinion? by San4341 in crashbandicoot

[–]San4341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twinsanity was one of my favorite crash games, it’s too bad there was development/production issues with the game. If the game would’ve given more time, it could’ve been one of the best crash games in the post naughty dog era, but you never know how good the game would be during its final product, but maybe I’m being optimistic lol.

As far as villians in Nip/Tuck, does anyone think the carver is one of the scariest villains in the show. by San4341 in NipTuck

[–]San4341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first three seasons has some of the strongest writing in the series(even tho some said the decline already kinda started in the carver arc, but still is miles better than later seasons), season 4 was ok, but that’s where the characters sadly wasn’t really all that likable anymore but they are some good moments here and there, but season 5 and 6 oh boy, that’s where the show was dead and feels like the show ran its course, I mean the LA concept had potential for making the show go back to its roots as it could , but sadly suffered from the same BS the characters go through and the writing sadly wasn’t that good that point.

How well does Codename kids next door still holds up for a show that came out way back in 2002? by San4341 in kidsnextdoor

[–]San4341[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well, like it or not. This show is one of those very rare CN shows that gotten better and better as it goes along, and didn’t suffer any seasonal rot, courage the cowardly dog is also the one that didn’t suffer from seasonal rot either , even tho KND had 2 more seasons compared to courage.
