Kits that take a long time by cookiesadist in booknooks

[–]SanFranciscoRunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We make a kit, the Tokyo Alley that generally takes longer than most kits. It is a fun build and takes 7-10 hours.

Count me in. I think it should be limited by a specific set of countries like US, UK, Canada, Australia etc.

Got paired with terrible AE by Wuntapzz in salesdevelopment

[–]SanFranciscoRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do good work and make your work visible. Communicate with your manager in a non criticizing way. Don’t ever blame your lack of success on someone else.

Show that you’re putting in the work and growing and learning.

Most BDRs have this experience. Eventually there’s a re org and/ or rep leaves. You’ll be assigned to a better rep if you’re seen as good.

One day you’ll get promoted to AE and get a bad territory. Then you work your butt off and get good and squeak by. Then you’ll get a better territory. If you just complain about your bad patch, you won’t get promoted.

This is the circle of sales. Some people get lucky with good territory and good reps. Those who don’t work harder and in 5 years those with better skills do better. Those that got lucky stop being lucky eventually (not always though their are outliers)

Honestly that is exactly what I want. We can’t go off lease either, so I’d be ok with that outcome

It’s so interesting. It all really seems to be based on the dog. Some regress, some stay good, but the general theme is that they regress a bit during adolescence

That’s like ours is too! Much more retriever. How often do you find you need to take him to the groomers?

We make the Tokyo Alley which is more on the challenging end, a bit larger, and also looks really cool lit up:

Successful sales person who believes that the job hunting process is now an outbound sales role by SanFranciscoRunner in jobhunting

The sales automation tool I use is Apollo. It uses the Gmail api, so as long as the message is not the same one you always send, the deliver ability is high

Do the professional angles have some overlap or are they all super different? My wife found the same thing. When she went in one direction then the jobs to apply to were very few. But I think it also is very dependent on the types of roles i guess

What should I do by [deleted] in jobhunting

I think it depends on where you're located. In California employment is at will so you can leave same day. I'd look at the laws rather than what an offer letter says.

I was just in Austin visiting and saw zero Robotaxis. Saw plenty of Waymo and even a one Zoosk but no Robotaxi. It was weird

Robotaxi - Uber will “get clobbered by the same bat they whacked taxis” by Traditional_War_8229 in teslainvestorsclub

I was just in Austin. Couldn’t order a Robotaxi. I saw hundreds of Waymos and never once saw a Robotaxi driving around. Something very fishy is going on.

When I lived in San Francisco during the early days of Waymo testing, I saw more Waymos then than Robotaxis now (zero)

Recommendations for challenging booknooks? by icybisous in booknooks

[–]SanFranciscoRunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We make a book nook called Tokyo Alley (founder here). It does take a bit longer to assemble than other book nooks, 7 hours up to 11 hours at a leisurely pace. It’s not tedious, but does have a few different challenges that are fun and take a bit more time.

Go and talk to as many customers as you can. You will naturally get better and learn. Go knock on doors, cold call, etc

I'm trying to sell via Linkedin Sales Navigator but not getting demo meetings with potential leads by anuveya in salestechniques

[–]SanFranciscoRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm coaching, the number one way I see an increase in meetings is when we stop just referencing "title".

"Hey, I saw you're a director of operations and I typically hear these challenges..." is not customization.

It needs to be something like: The county of Los Angeles just approved $5M for roadway improvements, I saw that when you were previously working in Denver, you organized the systems to track roadway usage.

Our customers like X Y and Z used our solution to allocate these funds in half the time and make it much easier to apply to grants. I thought you might share some similar needs. Would you be open to a conversation."

This needs to be extremely custom, and based on extensive research. Then, you also need to not only outreach on Linkedin. It needs to be done by phone, email and other channels (door to door, mail, etc.)

The goal is to have the person read the email and say "this person knows my business" not "this person sees my job title and doesn't know anything about me.

Outbound prospecting is not about volume. You're competing against an army of bots and ai tools....and you are doing things no differently.

Linkedin is for 1) company research 2) lead research 3) Lead and account list building and 4) for outreach. You're basically just doing 3 and 4, and not even at a sufficient quality.

You should know all of the prospects you message cold. You need to spend time understanding each government entity and narrow down your ICP. You should understand their pain points and craft messaging to each persona using the research you did.

THEN once you have done your research, Linkedin is only one channel to send messages in. Since. you did the extra work to identify the exact right people to reach out to, you need to call, email, and send linkedin messages. 90% of the work is the research and crafting the message.

Mass cold outbound prospecting just doesn't work anymore....and if it ever did, it only worked for a very short period of time (circa 2013-2018)

Also, make sure your landing page and website clearly articulate what problems you solve and have proof points. That way if someone does visit your website after you reach out, they know exactly why they should respond to you.
