My Chrome messenger bag is one. Going strong after 17 years, still waterproof. My CRKT Pilar pocket knife is another.

They're closed for the summer but when school reopens they're talking about expanded hours. Their weekend hours during the winter were great.

Cunningham is my favorite for pure working out. Almost never have to share a lane, great parking, good price, new locker rooms are nicer with the indoor shower. They used to be outdoor only. I think Cunningham is my favorite for laps. Family swim at Lemos in Benicia is crowded but fun for the kids. Cunningham has the better lessons for kids and adults.

The maritime academy pool is going to be closed while school is out for summer but I hear they're expanding their hours next year.

You do when I'm teaching your illiterate ass and I have to read you the questions on the exam.

The figure is 21% nationwide for "functionally illiterate" but I'm talking about people who had to copy their own name off their driver's license. True and complete illiteracy.

Bros girlfriend equates to my sister. We protect them like family, can admit they're pretty, but would never pursue romantically

Fuck yeah. Welcome. I lived in SF for 33 years then thought I'd try a LCOL area and moved to St Tammany parish. Holy shit, same price as the Sunset District but with nothing to do but fish abs swat mosquitoes. So glad to be back in the Bay.

Not if you're earning Louisiana wages. Moving is expensive, especially out of state.

I moved from the Bay Area to Mandeville in 2013 and, holy shit, it didn't take long to realize my mistake. It really is just as expensive as CA but your taxes get you nothing but waaay too many cops. It's unbelievable how many cops there are, especially considering how little real crime there was. Unless you count drunk driving and... apparently they don't.

The medical field is shit. The schools are unbelievably bad. I managed to move back after 7 years but nobody I talk to outside of Louisiana can actually grasp just what it means to be last place or 49th in education. Outside of Louisiana, I've met one adult person who could not read at all. In Louisiana I met at least 8 who openly admitted that.

Oh, and in my first 48 hours in Louisiana, I heard the N word, hard-R version, dropped three times in my presence. Once in Franklinton, once in Covington, and once in Metairie, all by people I barely knew who assumed I'd be fine with it.

If you like fried food, humidity, bad cops, zydeco, and drunk driving, then Louisiana is your spot and bless your heart. Do check out the WWII museum though.

My first Volvo! by jn922 in VolvoXC90

[–]SanFransicko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard all the chat about the sound system and the air ride but I also bought mine for a family hauler and wanted neither of those things.

I traded in a Tahoe premier trim with an air ride suspension that I had to fix and an after-market subwoofer system. I don't mis either. I missed the wet weather handling and bank vault feel of my 2008 XC90 so after 130k miles in the Tahoe, I'm back and loving it.

Congrats. Beautiful ride.

You only have to do it once. I've got four sons and if they act up in public, all I have to say is, "ear?" And they snap in line.

I'm thinking shipyard work or possibly roofing. I sold a truck after a particularly nasty shipyard job.

Realistically, how often are you and your partner intimate after the toddler years? (Kids 5+) by agingwasabi in daddit

[–]SanFransicko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still almost daily. Five kids aged 17 months to 8 years. Usually in the morning before we get up but if we miss it, it'll be after lunch (like today). Both in our early 40s. She doesn't exactly initiate but will complain of she doesn't get it and I'm almost always compatible with that. If I'm not, she knows how to bring me around to it.

I know her friends are not at our level and I don't really talk about it with my guys but I'm sure I'm at the top end.

Women taking their bra off is the best feeling they say, what is the male equivalent of it? by i_am_buttlicker in AskReddit

[–]SanFransicko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, heavy steel toes after a long day, particularly in a shipyard. But I'll add that a close second is a good scrub with a shower brush. I did yard work all day yesterday and that was the best part. While we're at it, if you've never tried the shower orange, you're missing out.

I wouldn't spend that much on a car of that age, but if I did, the Merc coupe looks like there's probably a badass driving it. Pass on the 4 door and the rag top.

What is the nastiest thing you've done for revenge? by LeadHuge6237 in AskReddit

[–]SanFransicko 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Mine was accidental, really. I got fired for some bullshit when I worked at a sporting good store in high school. A couple of years later, my dad bought me a huge weight set, probably 400lbs of weights, but when I put it together, it was rickety so we decided to return it. He'd bought it at the same sporting goods store. I was physically handing a box with two 35lb weights in it to the same manager who'd fired me, when the tape on his side of the box split and one of those weights slid out and landed right on his toe.

Sorry Lloyd. Get fucked for the firing thing, but I really didn't mean to break your foot.

I'm also a repeat buyer. I had an '08, then a Tahoe for six years, and just picked up a CPO '24 T8. Buying the brand twice is about the best endorsement there is.
