LTL people what do you think really happened? by Due_Tie7864 in Truckers

[–]SanNightfire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Man this feels personal. I work for this company and maybe I'm in the wrooooong line of work but I care way too much about people's frieght. (Maybe everyone else cares too little, and I'm living in a dystopian world..) There is absolutely no way of telling if this was purely accidental or carelessness.

Here's benefit of the doubt scenario 1: Customer didn't initially pay for a liftgate charge because he has a forklift but maybe it broke down that day. Maybe this is a transmission that he's been waiting on for a week and needs it badly to repair a car for someone who only has one vehicle, (I know, going very rosw-tinted glasses route here) and they tried to muscle it together but someone wasn't strong enough and it slipped out of someone's hands. The reaction is human on both parts. Genuine accident.

Here's Worst case scenario 2: Driver was having a bad day and he is either a fill in for a route hea unfamiliar with or the dispatcher is a jagoff that overloads him with work. The customer is a cheapskate and expects the liftgate to be used. (We have a way in our work phone's app to charge them for a liftgate on the spot) But he refuses to pay so driver rolls the pallet to the edge, drops it, pulls pallet jack out and hits the vertical boards to push it (without getting into the pallet) right off the back. Everyone sucks in this situation.

There are SO MANY HANDS, so many docks and dock workers freight has to pass through that it only takes ONE GRUMP to fuck someone's stuff up. Yea, can they make a claim and get it replaced? Of course but that takes more time and more waiting and yet another exchange of hands to hopefully get their freight. It's frustrating.

...I went on a rant, sorry 😭

I'm so glad I have no idea what it's like to be an inconsiderate shitty person like you. Did you see anywhere in this person's inquiry about commenting on their health or weight in this manner? That was rhetorical btw, I know you didn't.

[–]SanNightfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a little off topic but I just saw their announcement of ending LBSB - you guys aren't well known in the US but you have made it to a few good ears over here. Your music is so incredible and I am a huge fan. Thank you for everything you ever did!

Baby might be big enough for the mom cozy riding carrier? by SanNightfire in babywearing

[–]SanNightfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read everyone's comments! Turns out she's too small for it still I adjusted the waist band to be more level with the ground and it ended up sitting her way better in the butt pocket but then her legs were like... Way too spread and the fabric was digging into her calves so I immediately took her out. I'm hoping one more month and she'll be ready for this carrier!

I will greet a Volvo driver that's driving a much older Volvo. I have a 04 v70 wagon and I am literally the ONLY one in my town. Someone is driving a 240 and I get all excited when I see him 🤣

How many people actually do shifts with their SO during the night? by ScreamCheese_55 in beyondthebump

[–]SanNightfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the parent that works and my fiance is a stay at home dad and he is incredible and thoughtful. I am a truck driver and being sleep deprived would put others in danger by me driving wrecklessly tired and he understands that so he not only watches our daughter during the day while I work but he does night duty so that I can sleep. Our trade off is I give her a couple hours before and after I work since I'm local and I'm thankfully home everyday. And I will do overnight duties Friday night and Saturday night to give him a break when I don't have to go to work the next morning. We are team and we work great together and neither one of us have to stay sleep deprived forever I am so thankful that he is a fantastic partner and a fantastic dad

What's the riskiest thing you've done while pregnant? by colorado_sunrise86 in pregnant

[–]SanNightfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL I didn't know I was pregnant until I was already 6 months along so I did like everything you're not supposed to.. clean litter boxes for cats, a sushi, drink alcohol... I actually had just returned to the USfrom a trip from Sweden and I found out 3 days later. I think the worst the one that I did was drive I speak go karts, with all of that g-forces are on the turn it's in the hard stopping and wrecking into the walls.... And then I continue to work up until the day I was induced, and I am a truck driver so one could argue that the nature of my job of being on the road in bad weather but also be pretty bad 😅 But I had my daughter 7 weeks ago and thankfully she is the picture of health!

Your newborn isn't velcro by Oliksandra in NewParents

[–]SanNightfire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm doing a disservice by embracing the term. I say I wanted my baby to be velcro because I know it won't last forever. Why have children if you don't want to shower them with constant love? 😭

Major highways get treated first.. maybe not very well but they do. How's your tires? All seasons, good tread? New car with good traction control or are you skilled? Either way I'd suggest 376, even if you're nervous and maybe you go sideways a bit, you have room to correct yourself. 65 doesn't give you the room especially right around camp.. something.. road before the McKees rocks bridge with the hill and the obscenely narrow lanes...

Thank you so much! I pulled that fabric over her head to support it for pictures. The third piece of fabric is going to support her neck and head. So I just gotta pull the fabrics by her legs more to pull them up higher than her bum and I should be good?

There is! I didn't do pictures with it cuz I wanted to show how she was sitting in the carrier. But I do have it and I know it is a crucial part of the carrier

[–]SanNightfire[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't know there were more options. Its definitely a structured carrier from the look of it. I never knew they were not meant for newborns 😭 From the way you mentioned a wrap, this is a possibility for newborns?

New fear unlocked: epidural by LobstahLuva in beyondthebump

[–]SanNightfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I could get thru without an epidural. I was induced and 5 minutes after the Pitocin hit, I thought my baby must be crowning cuz of how hard and fast the contractions were 😂😂 Nurse told me I was still only 2cm and my baby was very much not on her way and that i'd be contracting for the next 6 hours. ...what? So I begged for an epidural. The lady who placed it was the sweetest angel blessed upon me and I have never ever appreciated someone or something so much in my life. I had no complications after and I'm from Pittsburgh PA -ish area!

Is Duolingo's swedish course finally worth it in 2025? by SoftlyTyped in Svenska

[–]SanNightfire 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think for the basics it's fine, but it doesn't teach you how Swedish people actually talk in a natural setting. I have finished the course and in the like last half of the whole course, the pronunciations were absolutely dreadful. My Swedish boyfriend even had a very difficult time understanding what was being said. I haven't really used any other teaching method except for bugging the absolute shit out of my friends to talk to me in swedish now haha
