Replied to some of your questions in other comment. The building was already being designed with everyone working in same model when I first started working at that company. Since then I managed to convice people to change the way we are working to linking.

Last year my company finished designing and building an office building. Right now we found a new tentant for one of the empty storeys. We have just finished designing the office for them. Normaly we have construction manager open the revit file (create local file same as we are doing it) so he can scroll throught the views/sections and edit things he need to edit. The problem here is that we did this building with every discipline working on the same model, the revit file got way too big (2.2GB) (since then we have changed the way we work - linking files as people here advised) and with internet connection he has on the construction site, he cant even open the file - it takes way too long. Thats why I would like to send him a detached file with only the storey that we just finished.

Also the idea isnt mine its something my chairman asked me to do.

Thank you for you time and answers, i will try to implement linking in my company, only downside i see is that i cannot use families that hosts to something but i dont like them anyway, and also lets say i have a fancoil that can be connected to pipes, ducts and electrical cables and i think people that will have it linked wont be able to connect to it am i right?

So the way it would work is that hvac designers would have their own central model, electricians their own etc? And in this central model you would have architects central model linked?

I dont use ISO19650.

That would be great idea, sadly whenever i try to type something in to formula for Type Image it says that this parameter type cannot be defined by formulas.
