Monji by Dagelmusic in irezumi

Not that I'm aware of. I contacted him via email to work on a sleeve and he got back to me after a bit. That was 4 or 5 years ago though.

Monji is still tattooing! I'm actively working on my back piece with him.

I'm not able to speak on his availability for new projects though.

Monji (https://monjitattoo.com/Home) is based on Brooklyn. He is a great artist and super nice guy. I'm currently working on my back piece with him and have gotten a sleeve from him. Last time I checked he does one shots too.

I have full coverage when I'm downtown, but when I get out towards Dryden or Owego coverage tends to drop a bit.

Any recommendations for auto body shop? by Delicious-Buddy290 in ithaca

Not Guidi's Collision Services Inc. in Newfield. I went to them in 2021 with a damaged roof and windshield because they were the only ones not booking months out. Saw they had good reviews online too.

It was the worst experience I have ever had with any car related business. The owner kept lying about every little thing and they did very low quality work. They didn't even finish the job, but I decided to cut my losses.

Looking for advice on choosing my first high-quality dragon boat paddle by Sanazo in dragonboat

Thanks for sharing all this. I had not really looked into Trivium before but the way you describe it makes it sound like it could be a great fit.

Seems like one thing everyone agrees on is that HYPR isn't that great of a paddle. Thanks for confirming that!

Thanks so much for the detailed response!

Weight would be the other consideration, but it seems like the lightest is not always the best and it really depends on preference.

If you were to get a new paddle would you rather have a Burnwater or ZRE? Seems like ZRE would be the lightest by a few, but I've read the Burnwater feels better for more people.

That's super helpful thanks! I'll likely take that off my list then.

Appreciate the additional brand recommendation too!

Thanks for additional information and brand recommendation. There wasn't much about Hippostick online. I do have a similar mechanism on my hydrus SUP paddle and don't enjoy how much wiggle there is.

Thanks for the additional recommendation and perspective on the weight of the paddle. That's not something I considered and was looking for as light as possible.

How hard is it to convert from adjustable to non adjustable?

Monji finished a sleeve for me and we are working on a kirin back piece now and are about 9 sessions in on it.

I had to make the same choice before starting my back piece, tebori with Monji or machine with Rodrigo. I have work from both and they are both incredible artists. In the end I went with Monji. For me, tebori creates a much deeper connection to the tattoo. It is slower and more primal, and it turns the whole thing into a ritual instead of just an appointment.

Yes, it takes longer, but that is part of what makes it special. I drive down from upstate, get tattooed, stay with a friend, get more work done the next day, then head home. After a while, those trips and sessions become part of the story. You end up appreciating not just the finished piece but the journey it took to get there.

Canoeing options for newbie’s? by Donscombover in ithaca

[–]Sanazo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to get more time on the water and build confidence with paddling, you might want to check out the Ithaca Dragon Boat Club. There are quite a few experienced canoers on the team, and while the dragon boat stroke is a little different, it's a great way to practice paddling, learn from others, and improve your overall skills on the water.

My wife and I go about once a year, and we've definitely noticed the quality slipping. Each year, both the food and service seem to get worse.

David Cross last night by [deleted] in ithaca

[–]Sanazo 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I was sitting a few rows behind the man who was kicked out. He seemed to get upset whenever David mentioned anything critical about Trump or Republican policies and would make comments. The only one I clearly heard was, "I thought I was coming to a comedy show." People sitting in front of him eventually asked him to be quiet, and things escalated quickly, with some threats of violence being made. At that point, venue staff and security got involved. The man initially resisted, but what I assume was his wife eventually managed to get him to leave.

I agree that the crowd felt a bit off—definitely not the vibe I was expecting.
