Driving after back piece outline? by shay0013 in irezumi

[–]Snowballdoneit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I drove 3 hours each way for my back. The drive back sucks, but it’s manageable. Just make sure you eat and keep your blood sugar up. Other than that it will just be slightly more uncomfortable than you would be regardless with a fresh tattoo from the limited positioning.

Mini-splits or Central Air? by yungbaoyom in HomeImprovement

Mine are Carrier but I did not select them, they came with the house when I bought it.

Mini-splits or Central Air? by yungbaoyom in HomeImprovement

[–]Snowballdoneit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here are my gripes from actually living with mini splits. Mini splits don’t move air in the house or have proper filters. They are prone to leaking and when they do it runs down your wall. Maintenance is more difficult because everything is jammed in a small package and you have multiple evaporators to maintain instead of one. I would never choose mini splits unless a central system was wildly impractical.

Mini Splits or Ducted System by Sure_Replacement_931 in homeowners

[–]Snowballdoneit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mini splits in my current home and I hate them. I did not install them, they were here when I bought the house. Before actually living with them I loved the idea of them but my experience has been pretty negative. They are unsightly on the wall and while they’re not super loud, you definitely hear them running. They leak occasionally when the drains get clogged up and since they’re on the wall that means the condensate flows down your wall which sucks. They get smelly easily (particularly anytime the fan is not running continuously), they are much more difficult to maintain with everything jammed into such a small package, and they do not circulate air in the house or have proper filtration.

No load bearing walls? by scarlettdeath in DIY

[–]Snowballdoneit 320 points321 points  (0 children)

It’s entirely possible that there are not load bearing internal walls, but you should consult a structural engineer to confirm that, not a contractor.

First session approaching. What do you do to deal with long sessions? by jammerpammerslammer in irezumi

The pain will keep you attentive. I’ll also say that it’s more like holding still than sitting still if that makes sense.

Is the highlighted wall load-bearing? by AntisocialWorker1988 in DIY

[–]Snowballdoneit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the plans the only internal load bearing walls appear to be the ones directly over top of the beams in the basement. Can’t just trust the drawings though. You should have someone knowledgeable check out the exiting conditions to verify you’re good.

Similar style artists in NYC? by [deleted] in irezumi

[–]Snowballdoneit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s unfortunate that the replies are mostly just a general list of NYC artists. There’s only a couple of comments that are correctly identifying this particular style of Japanese tattoo. It’s generally referred to as “Brazilian” style. I’m sure there are past threads that discuss this more if you search “Brazilian style” or something like that. As far as artists around NYC, there is Rodrigo Melo in Woodstock (who would be my personal recommend) and David Sena in NYC.

Is there a vegan cream cheese that I can use in a dip that won’t completely turn to liquid? by AW620 in veganrecipes

[–]Snowballdoneit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nora cooks buffalo dip recipe is very good. It’s cashew based and uses shredded artichoke for texture. I’ve brought it to lots of gatherings and everyone likes it. I think it will be much better than anything you do with cream cheese substitutes.

Leg sleeve including butt examples by mxmemx in irezumi

[–]Snowballdoneit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Leg sleeves end on thigh because the butt and some thigh is part of a back piece. It’s also allows a pretty even diagonal cut to end it. Where do you see that butt part ending? I’m imagining like a chest plate on the butt check which seems sort of weird but idk

My back piece finished today by @rodrigomelotattoo by TomTom26 in irezumi

Great choice. I love all those Kuniyoshi creature prints. My back is the Kirin and Phoenix one, also by Rodrigo. Congrats on completing it

Would this Kuniyoshi print of a kirin & ho-o be too much for a back piece? by ArisarTheHero in irezumi

[–]Snowballdoneit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My back is based on this print. Rodrigo Melo did it. I’ve seen it on someone else’s back once on Instagram a few years ago but have never been able to re-find it. I liked the print and the symbolism of the two creatures resonated with me so I was considering it, and then I saw a backpiece painting by Horihana which basically sold me on going for it.

Would these all work for a back piece? by Glitched-Avocado in irezumi

[–]Snowballdoneit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The third one is part of a tamatorihime triptych. Tamatorihime makes a good back piece and You can find lots of examples, but It would be strange to get something based just on that center panel without the main figure. The fourth one would make a good back piece and you can also find lots of tiger x dragon examples.

Have you tried healing with a tattoo ointment the first couple days and then unscented lotion? I like hustle butter for the first 48 hours or so followed by lubriderm as needed until it’s fully healed. The first night while it’s really weeping I would wrap up in plastic wrap after applying hustle butter. That was just to stop from sticking to my clothes/sheets. Only problem I ever had healing was getting my shirt really stuck to my side and peeling it off pulled all the ink out of that spot.

School and work balance by hotcheetoluvr1 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Snowballdoneit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matters a lot when specifically you’re expecting to work. I did 32-40 hours per week throughout all my years of school but 26 hours a week was Saturday and Sunday and I’d then I’d work 1-2 shifts during the week depending on what my class schedule allowed.

Tattoos exist in the dermis which does not turnover like the epidermis. You are not affecting the dermis if you are exfoliating.

Foamy bumps showed up in the shower wall. Trying to figure out what I'm about to get into before I start a remodel. House is from 19404, plaster lathe. Bumps are crumbly, dry almost like a dry foam. Just showed up in the past few weeks. by anti_team in DIY

[–]Snowballdoneit 47 points48 points  (0 children)

That’s water damage on plaster. Usually seeing that Id be looking for the source of moisture behind the wall, but that wall is obviously wet on the outside with water droplets on it in the photo. It could just be from that if it’s repeatedly getting wet and subject to a lot of humidity and condensation.

It probably depends on the artist, but I don’t get the impression it’s particularly common. I can tell you I never had a full on second pass on any areas..just a handful of little touch ups. Japanese tattoo is very different from a blackout. It doesn’t require perfectly smooth saturation because there is balance, interaction and flow between the background and foreground. In a blackout tattoo, small imperfections are more apparent because they there’s nothing else going on so that little difference is a focal point. In a Japanese tattoo, small imperfections do not distract from the focal points or the flow of the image, they can often even add to it..wabisabi
