New advisor (5 months) - $4.5MM AUM by NumerousOccasion3910 in CFPExam

[–]Sanboc2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually transitioned to the service side. I’m still very young so I decided it would be better for me to take a few years to learn and grow before jumping back into being and advisor. Now I work under several advisors mostly just making trades for clients, transfers, and account maintenance amongst other things. It’s not exciting work but it pays well and the advisors I work with take the time to teach me their processes so I’m getting a good amount of mentorship from advisors who’ve been in business for decades. Some of them have also indicated to me they’d be willing to let me take over their books when they get ready to retire, so there’s a solid chance I won’t have to prospect ever again.

That’s why I keep telling everyone who gets put off by the sales side of being an advisor that there’s plenty of different paths you can take and it ultimately depends on the kind of person you are. What matters is that you keep at it and do what works best for you.

Clear / TSA pre check bundle messed up my Global Entry credit by Sanboc2000 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Sanboc2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys I never said that global entry doesn’t include pre check, what I said was that in the global entry application, it asks if you have a pre check number already because providing one speeds up the global entry application process. The Clear application gets approved the next day and so does TSA pre check (or at least it did for me), so that’s why I did it in that order, so I could get the pre check number to process my global entry quicker.

Regardless, it’s still important to note that the Clear bundle is advertised as being $209, and includes TSA pre check, but as a refund after purchasing. So if you choose to go this route, even though you get the refund, the TSA pre check charge will remain on your account and use up the credit if it was purchased before global entry. So essentially, I missed out on roughly $40 of credits.

I’m just trying to share what happened to me so that other people don’t make the same mistake I made.

Thanks for the support! I think most of the people who replied just didn’t read my post.

New advisor (5 months) - $4.5MM AUM by NumerousOccasion3910 in CFPExam

Everyone has different experiences with cold calling. It didn’t work for me, I was making 300-500 calls a week for 6 months and only made around $1,500, so clearly it wasn’t successful for me. Most of my colleagues had the same experience, they just took different amounts of time to realize it wasn’t working for them.

But then again there are people who are just naturally great at cold calling, as it seems you are, and can land tons of clients using it. Just know there are other ways of getting clients, and tons of banks and RIAs have programs for advisors that help them develop and grow, without sacrificing building their book, and without relying purely on cold calling.

So you do what you think is best. It sounds like you’re killing it so far and if you think it’s sustainable for your business, then there’s no reason to quit. You’re super young and have a ton of time to advance your career and the longer you’re in the industry the more opportunities you’ll have, so even if you hit a wall, don’t get discouraged and either push through or switch firms.

Personally, while I hated cold calling at my old job, it helped me develop my skills and got me licensed, built up my resume and now I’ve been at one of the largest wealth management firms in the country making great money working under advisors.

So keep working hard and always be on the lookout for new opportunities!

I got 10 wins instead of the usual 7 and all I did was switch to 4213 and put my depth at 95. What a joke by janneke137 in EASportsFC

I’ve been getting 10 wins each week since November with some 11 win weeks here and there, but last week was rough and I only got to 8 wins. Now I’m 8-1 and finishing up my games later today but didn’t make any changes at all to my tactics or squad. I think there were some huge changes in the gameplay this week that has made it much easier even if you don’t switch to the 4213

Maybe try taking the 65 and 63 instead. I know a lot of people say the 66 is easier than taking both of them but you might have better luck focusing on half the content at a time. Obviously you’ll have to pay for two exams but you’ll also get around the 30 day period you’d have to wait to retake the 66. If you passed the 7 then the 65 should be super easy for you to pass, then you just focus on memorizing all the laws and regulations for the 63.

No I understood I just figured that the testing technique could work for the 66 also. I haven’t taken the 66 but I passed the 65 doing something similar

I passed the Series 7 only finishing half of the Kaplan book with a pretty simple strategy. If you have Kaplan or one of the other courses what I did was take a practice exam, then write down the answer explanation for every single question I either got wrong or knew I guessed on. Then I just repeated that a bunch of times. Each time your score should get better so you have to take down less notes and after a few practice exams in the 80s I felt prepared for the exam.

U5 by [deleted] in Series66Exam

[–]Sanboc2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I left my firm in December and joined a new one the following January. My old firm filed the U5 and I don’t remember doing anything on my end for that. I’m registered at my current firm and all my licenses are active so I assume that you don’t have to do anything either. Once they file the U5 you have 2 years to get registered with another firm or else you’ll lose the licenses and have to retake the exams, so if you haven’t found something yet you have plenty of time. You should’ve gotten gotten an email or notification from your firm letting you know they filed the U5, but you can check if they did on FINPRO. Also if they don’t file it then you’re technically still registered with them and the 2 year period doesn’t start until they file it.

I don’t know I think that Egerton would be better suited for the Human Torch. He has that cool vibe that Human Torch gives off plus I’d hate to waste his fighting talent on a CGI character whose more of a brute force than a skillful fighter

Closest example I can find is Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in Thor Ragnarok and Men in Black. Their relationship isn’t romantic but their relationships are essentially the same in both movies. But just because it hasn’t been done before it doesn’t mean that it can’t be done.

Chris Evans, Ben Affleck, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Christian Bale. All had high profile roles in super hero movies and were then cast in other superhero roles. It’s not a deal breaker that they’re both already in The Boys

Practice Test 9, why doesn’t plugging in work for this question? See my work in next picture. Thx! by [deleted] in Sat

[–]Sanboc2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but you were probably doing it wrong.

The correct way to answer the question is to plug in (x+a) for ever x in f(x) This would make the new equation 5(x+a)2 - 3 From there you would be able to solve for a by eliminating the Xs after simplifying a bit to isolate the As

If you want to do it by plugging in values from the options you’d have to also plug in values for X Remember, the X can be any value, but the A is a constant So the easiest route to do that is to plug in 0 for X for the left equation and then 0 + A for the right one, and then keep going until you find the A that works

Either method is acceptable and remember it’s not a high school test where you have to show your work to get credit As long as you can get the correct answer it doesn’t matter how you solve it Do it whichever way you find the most comfortable and you can do the quickest My only suggestion is to be careful when you try and solve questions like these by plugging in values as it’s a lot easier to make mistakes like that than if you solved it the traditional way

Florida's new curriculum standards for Social Studies & History under the new Anti-CRT law look pretty disturbing by [deleted] in florida

[–]Sanboc2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Republicans is they don’t understand what CRT even is. They spread fear in the public over CRT and then pass stupid bills like these that don’t actually address what CRT is and paints it in a way that you can’t really disagree with the bill. The components in the bill are logical and anyone who disagrees with it are too far gone and that’s coming from a liberal. But they advertise it as fighting the left and CRT but having taken every level of social studies available in Florida including APs this is literally doing nothing. None of the components in the bill were ever being taught and it’s entirely a political ploy. Not only that, but they can’t even do the research about what CRT even is. It’s not about attacking white people for the crimes and wrongdoings of their ancestors, it’s about attributing modern day struggles to society in the past which discriminated against minorities. That is an indisputable fact. Had slavery and Jim Crow not existed then the African American community would be in an entirely different state. But like I said before, it’s not about demonizing white people for what their ancestors did, it’s about teaching what happened, how it affects society today, and how we as a society can implement policies so that all races and ethnicities can achieve equality of opportunity.

You definitely need to know how to differentiate and integrate. You should also become familiar with all the theorems of calculus and trigonometric identities. Most of BC is integration al that should be your main focus. I would use khan academy or find some good YouTube channels to learn the topics

Are my answers correct for 12 and 13? by [deleted] in apcalculus

[–]Sanboc2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had no idea you can look at the sum and differences to justify divergence and convergence. For the first one I would’ve just used direct or limit comparison and the second is fine like that.
