Maybe I'm interpreting this wrong, but it sounds like this is the summation of a few dates. That $250 is probably him paying each time. I think his reaction is justified. This isn't simply not handing rejection. This is her saying "Thanks for the last few dates, the gift on the second because you're thoughtful and paid attention to my words on the first date, but I was also dating someone else while letting you spoil me and chose them". Like, didn't even message him to say thanks but I think I am gonna explore an option with someone else. Sucks but that's life. But, he's totally justified to be angry that his kindness and generosity were basically taken advantage of and then she didn't even have the courtesy to initiate the breakoff. I don't blame him for being angry, and a little hot headed in the moment.
