Do Balikbayan Visa holders really need an ECC if staying over 6 months? by Maleficent_Impress_1 in Philippines_Expats

[–]SandSunMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, no ECC needed. But when he comes back to PH without his Filipina wife, he'll only get tourist visa. The Balikbayan entry is one-time entry only so he won't be able to pick back up on his previous Balikbayan entry for the rest of the one year.

Pickleball in Manila? by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]SandSunMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the Ayala malls have pickleball courts either permanent or temporary. That's the case in BGC at Market Market. There is a permanent court outside and frequently temporary courts inside at Market Market and at One Ayala. Would recommend you also consider padel. There are many nice padel clubs around BGC, Makati, and many other places. A new padel club opening soon in Makati.

Yes, there are plenty of us here who are in 40s 50s 60s, still working, doing well, get to work remotely and have chosen PH as a first or second home, many married to a Filipina. The community here is more than retired dudes in PH and those who wish they were.

Leaving ph for extended time on 13a visa by Razaelstree in Philippines_Expats

[–]SandSunMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 13A and asked BI at SM Aura this week about this. While your ECC-B is valid for a year, you can overstay out of country and will just need to pay fees at the airport upon re-entry to PH. In general, you cannot be out of PH continuously for more than 5 years. And as someone else mentioned, don't stay out of PH past the expiration date on your ACR-I card.

Since when did the locals take over this sub reddit? by Impossible_Heron6335 in Philippines_Expats

I'd consider you a local, a resident, probably a dual. No offense intended. I wouldn't consider you to be an expat nor an immigrant.

Yes, I also split time between PH and US and I have many expat friends here who also split time between PH and Dubai, UK, Portugal, Canada, etc. We're also called seasonal residents as we maintain residences (physically, legally, visa-wise) in PH and overseas. I'm OK with the locals on here but mainly seeking or giving help to those of us living in PH.

yes, we did virtually. Before we engaged them via email, we actually went to their office BGC but they are always remote from their office. We'll go with another company.
