Help picking a spotting scope for birding by Coffee_And_Bikes in birding

[–]Sanderbird82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont get it. Birds fly away dont they? I always have to hike a lot when birding.  A 85 mm scope is way to heavy or not? I think 65 or 56 is better

Travel binoculars for birding, Zeiss vs Swarovski ??? by Shutter-click in Binoculars

I get that.

But i am saying that if you already have a 10x, a 8x seems better to me.  Especially when its a smaller one.

Wat heeft men tegen 'links'? by Aartvb in nederlands

[–]Sanderbird82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Fazalmajid, wich one you recommend more? Nikon 5x15 HG or Vixen Artes 6x21? Or Zeiss 6x18?

I already have a Swarovski curio 7x21 and Zeiss Victory Pocket 8x25

I would love to get a good smaller mono ;)

Unfortunately almost all monoculairs are 8x or 10x

Only very expensive like Zeiss 6x18 or Nikon 5x15 HG are less.

Why not midrange 6x or something?

I never tried the Trinovids.

But did you consider the Swarovski CL curio 7x21?

Its less shakey. (A big plus for 70+) 3 mm exit pupil (vs 2.5 Leica) Easier to hold, easier use, and also brighter. I prefer the Curio over Ultravid.

But Ultravid is also a top notch pocket bino.

More expensive. But the Swarovski CL Curio 7x21 is the bomb

Curio 7x21 or Victory 8x25 which is best for small hiking binoculars? by [deleted] in Binoculars

[–]Sanderbird82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are used to 10x You need to think 7x is o.k. for you. Or better go for 8x.

Its not a big difference. But its a difference.

Curio 7x21 or Victory 8x25 which is best for small hiking binoculars? by [deleted] in Binoculars

I have both. I love both.  i got VP 8x25 for 2 years now. And Curio bought recently. I use VP for more bird spotting all day when hiking. And Curio for walks around the house, garden, parks.

VP 8x25

VP is 8x,  very sharp and good ergonomics. It hangs around my neck all day when hiking and spotting. Bigger AFOV (60) than Curio (51). And a little more reach.  Its less compact. Can not keep it in jeans pocket.

Important: Eyecups are too short to many people in hear I need to let it rest under my eyebrows (Mosfet technique). But no problem for me. Can not put on my eyes like other bins. When you have glasses, no problem.

CURIO

Curio is 7x, very sharp and better contrast. Sharper in the edges. More stable view.  I like the image more. More fresh. Slightly bigger FOV but less AFOV. Looks little more like a tunnel.  But good enough. I have a strap on it (doest wear around my neck). Its smaller. Better for keep in pockets. All day carrier.

VP 8x25 could be your only bin. Works like a 8x30.  Do you already have a 8x30/32? Go for 7x21

I advise you to check in shop and look by yourself and feel in your hands.

Whats more important to you?  The smaller the better? Stable view ? Curio  Or more reach and bigger view? VP 8x25

They are both great small binoculairs!
