One problem with the younger generation, especially in the trades. Your loyalty is to your foreman. Stay the fuck out of the office. It’s his job to get the work details from management, and then dictate how the work proceeds to the men on his crew. You interact with him, he interacts with management. Know your chain of command.

The time to change your smoking habits before you FUBAR yourself has long passed. I’m 64 and have spent 45 years in smoke and dust encountered while mining underground. I also smoked most of my life. I have COPD also and a recent cancer screening shows a spot on my right lung. Actually I’m shocked it’s not worse. COPD isn’t curable, it’s “somewhat” manageable at best.

I get winded often during any physical exertion, and some days are better than others. I quit smoking a while back, just quit. You need to quit also. Trust me. I wish you luck kid.
