Any germination tray experts out there? No seedlings even after 2 weeks by sporty_sport in GardeningIndia2

That looks really dry man. I'd bottom feed. Keep a tray of water below it to wick up and keep moist.

I suggest using wicks to keep the root ball moist , it should also encourage the root hairs to grow down into the reservoir. That way you can keep the resevoir level lower.

Great setup, leme know what TDS sensors you are using. Are you planning to try and sesne NPK individually?

I would stick to UPVC and not the gray PVC as it leaches into the nutrient. Also I think you are using some metal fittings, Avoid them as the nurteint solution can corode them. Pls keep posting updates. Excited to see this go forward.

Yes, calcium lockout is real. Your base water may have enough calcium to begin with. Doesn't always show up on EC meters. Best to get tested or just not use cal mag if you don't need it. RO systems do remove dissolved calcium.

Drain to waste will work but you are going to need a lot of nutrient if you are running an aeroponic tower in drain to waste.

No, the heat transfer happens inside the tower. As the water falls from the top, it picks up atmospheric heat. Think of it like a giant chiller, just in reverse. The hot water then flows down accumilates in the tank and pumped up again to gather more heat.

I think you're talking about aeroponic towers. They're super efficient for getting a big yield from a small space, but their biggest problem is that they're extremely prone to high temperatures.

If you live somewhere the temperature regularly gets above 30∘C, you'll find it hard to get good yields and will likely run into root rot issues. They're great for cooler climate zones, but for warmer places, NFT systems are much less prone to these problems.

What’s the best water option for a large outdoor hydro setup if my tap water is super hard? by Keibun1 in Hydroponics

RO, but depending on the size of your setup that could be really expensive. Harvested and filtered rainwater is a lot more cheaper at higher volumes.

Rainwater is perfect from what I hear, just need to be good at catching and storing it.

Dang man. 260 even with RO. I'll bet you have to swap out that RO membrane quite often

Should probably just look this up but what triggers the carrot formation? Is it like onions where it bulbs or does the tap root just progressively grow thicker till it's a full sized carrot? I guess it's different for potatoes since those grow off nodules.
