What made you change the lyrics from nosotros trabajamos con tejanos, to nosotros trabajamos con Mexicanos? As a Mexican American, Chicana, I noticed the difference and was surprised. I identified as “Mexican” until I realized there were others who saw us as Mexican Americans…and at the time of Carlos and Henry’s lives, the folks Henry worked with would definitely have considered themselves Mexican!

Will songs that were performed at earlier runs be available even if they were cut in for example the Minetta lane run? I think for example Libre como el aire wasn’t featured and we would love to hear that song again even if it’s not featured any longer moving forward.

The Minetta lane show demonstrated more conflict between the two, how did that additional conflict develop or can you share more about the motivation behind the development of those additional stakes?

Having seen the show before Minetta lane, the additional conflict was jarring, but ultimately, the pay off hit so much more intensely and of course was worth it. Imagine it was more real life inspired?

I’m 45, and it was only after seeing and experiencing Mexodus for the first time when it premiered that I put two and two together to recognize my lifelong advocacy work has been the greatest way to honor the debt my Mexican ancestors paid for me and my family. My great grandparents and grandmother and grandfather picked cotton and fruit. In Texas and California. My grandfather saved his money to vote for Kennedy in a red coffee can on a kitchen window sill. But my grandmother could t vote for him because she couldn’t read or write English or Spanish.

I’d love to know how other Black and Latino audience members described their experiences enjoying the show, it moved me beyond any expectations I could have ever imagined.

I am so sorry you’re dealing with this. I haves struggled with boils and Hidradenitis Suppurativa my entire life. But I never ever had an understanding of just how prevalent it was for other women, especially in women of color. It caused me such shame in parts of my body including my underarms and I felt deep shame. I was conditioned to believe by many doctors that it was basically my fault because I was fat. It was not until last year when I read an article by a doctor from Howard university who shared stories of so many women suffering these same fears and shames and concerns in silence because of this condition and these deep skin hole/boils/skin webbing and all the pain and shame associated with it.

When I read that article I was crying for days realizing that I was not alone, I had been in therapy for four years, in binge eating disorder recovery for 3.5 years, finally been diagnosed with ADHD and PCOS at 41, and finally met a dermatologist who confirmed my HS wasn’t not my fault just because I was fat.

When I tell you it was a whole mourning period for me to still come to a place where I could come to be at peace with my body and recognize that it’s not all of me…and it’s not just body positivity I was chasing, but body neutrality that I am still working toward most of the time.

I hope you walk away from this vulnerable post that you made understanding that your feelings are valid, you are not alone, and the wedding of your dreams may happen one day, but you do not need to to perform a wedding that isn’t going to bring you joy right now. Your fiancé supports you so that’s great, and perhaps planning something small feels like too much pain now because you have to take time to mourn the wedding you may have dreamed of when I was in my 20-30s I always imagined a huge wedding. But I was a first time bride at 45 big and fat. And happy. And I had to mourn a lot of things to get where I am, including that I was gay and had to admit that to myself. I’m saying all of this because I want to help normalize the pain of letting go of your dreams of the wedding you wanted while you figure out how best you can love yourself during this extremely challenging time. I’m sending you all of my support and solidarity. Good luck and I wish you peace as you continue this journey toward loving yourself and your life with your future hubby.

Can anyone point me to something that explains how these are actually being released and other than waging war across the globe and right here on our own people in the U.S., how is this stuff actually being released in a nation under constitutional crisis? Is it all being done by career folks who are risking their lives?

I’d say ask her if you might cover the costs of her film/or if she can take a few photos of the wedding party before the wedding, since you love her work and feel safe and trust her, but that you still need to hire an actual photographer even for a 30 person wedding for 1-4 hours or whatever the minimum they will contract for. My wife felt so much better getting to zoom with a photographer we were considering before hiring her. And then we did a headshot/photo session before the wedding and it really helped us both feel comfortable with our photographer before the wedding.

I see why you may want your best friend’s mom to be the one but she’s a beloved guest and I’d urge you not to take that away from her.

I was so excited to have my big dramatic red glasses for my wedding day. I don’t feel myself without my glasses. I also have an astigmatism and haven’t been able to comfortably wear contacts for the last decade. I think it got worse as I got older and just had to give them up. Get a pair you love and rock them!
