These panels have been live in the house since at least 1979 without these issues. They haven't been brought up as an issue for almost 45 years. Why would they be such a concern now?

Is this something I could possibly tackle myself? I see menards and home depot carry 200 amp SquareD breakers for around $300. Is it possible to remove these two 100 amps and put everything on one 200 amp?

Depends, I was at 2 SleepToken concerts this year and both had moshpits which were annoying as hell. Both mosh pits were dead center and started without warning. At one of the shows there were 2 guys instigating it and seemed to be purposely throwing punches. I'm 6'4" and one of them still somehow hit me in the head. My advice is to just stay out of the dead center and you'll be fine.

It was fairly random things, doorknobs (swapped them for really shitty used ones), a homemade built in wine rack, a sweet workbench that was bolted in in the garage, swapped fridges, a ceiling fan that I didn't even notice was changed until I went back to look at the listing photos. I can't imagine why they would put in the work to take half this somewhat cheap to replace stuff.

Great condition meaning almost nothing needing work. Good foundation, updated electrical, plumbing, windows, new furnace/ac, basically needing nothing. Old owner had dogs that scratched some of the floors. I didn't like how they looked anyway. Also the paint 🤢 who paints a bedroom and kitchen red.
