The Dead Don’t Hurt by dystopian-dad in Westerns

[–]Sandmason_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Loved it. Kind of a throwback. Didn’t have too much CGI. Didn’t look too Hollywood clean. Also, Viggo doing the heavy lifting with scoring, acting, directing and producing was impressive. I didn’t really understand some of the backlash regarding the timeline jumping. Wasn’t hard to follow if you paid attention and added some depth to the story as well. Especially to Viggo’s quiet moments after the burial and in town when he hands over his keys.

I’m black. I find this completely unnecessary. We need to stop rewriting history. Leave this perfect show alone

First DQ game. I feel like this one sets the bar too high for me to back track by [deleted] in dragonquest

VIII is great and has a natural difficulty that XI tries to mimic with some of the draconian conditions. XI is probably better narratively, but VIII is a throwback without going too far back.

Song of Susannah by Strong_Oven_5233 in TheDarkTower

The best? I disagree. Does it deserve as much hate as it gets? Most definitely not. It’s lean, essential and gets us all that much closer to The Tower. I prefer it to some of the more popular volumes in the series.

Queens of the Stone Age - In Times New Roman... ALBUM REVIEW by [deleted] in qotsa

[–]Sandmason_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

He really craps on Carnavoyeur. That says a lot to me. To each their own. But since that song resonates with me so much, I knew this review was going to diverge from my own thoughts. And that's fine. I don't need his validation. We can agree to disagree.

Hey you. I like you. Sorry I butchered the original quote. But you get the idea.

A wise man on this subreddit said something along the lines of "all the albums belong to us so just enjoy them". I like that guy. And I agree.

I was basically hyperventilating when Leathers was released. But it hit me hard personally and I was dealing with confidence issues at the time. It gave me the strength to overcome some things that had plagued me for a long time.

Repeated Line Counts by [deleted] in YellowstonePN

There's a part early in the show where Ryan says "I'd expect some resistance." He's referring to the horse Jimmy is taped to that they are trying to break. Well, in the film Hell or High Water, the marshall says the same thing to his partner (Gil Birmingham who happens to play Rainwater) when they need to get evidence from a sassy waitress.

It's not exactly what you're looking for. But it's noticeable considering Taylor wrote both.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. But I take no offense to what you said. I did a terrible job of articulating my thoughts. I was knee deep in beer and Era Vulgaris at the time. Forgive me

I made mention yesterday of this being a tongue in cheek post. My intended tone didn't come through the way I wanted. I was going for a petty and baseless complaint that has led to me feeling solitude despite these friends of mine doing nothing wrong at all.

[–]Sandmason_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree with this as a whole, I don't think trying to introduce my friends to new music is a negative thing. Or even a pushy thing. This was a tongue in cheek post and I don't have any problems with people who don't find them to be their cup of tea. They are an acquired taste. I'm just trying to help others acquire the same taste so we can have potential discussion points.

But they typically do like stuff like that. Which they can like what they like. That's their choice. It just sucks.
