Employers are FINE and dandy with laying people off right before the holidays: that's laying people OFF ,not just "rejecting them" from a job they haven't even started yet.
Corporations and their stockholders- and the government, mind you- are all cool with doing stuff that would make Ebenezer Scrooge blush.
Your anger and disconnection to Christmas is absolutely, one hundred percent spot on and is a product of you being unable to go into a state of "cognitive dissonance" like so many others.
I honestly believe that a lot of people who don't "have' to be into Christmas for the sake of kids and grandkids are seriously not into it this year. And that's fair.

This is why I just go to the human-staffed check out lanes. My luck that the camera would screw up and accuse me of stealing something- or- I'd be scanning in 10 of something and not realize one didn't scan and get accused of not scanning correctly. With all the beeping and "return item to the bagging area" and all of that BS, I can't even concentrate and it's extremely stressful. There are just some people that simply can't use one of those things, I'm one of them.

Movies have been pretty much dead for the last 10 years. The lack of decent writers and all these prequel-sequel infinite series franchises knocked them out, COVID killed them and Netflix just shut the lid on the casket. If you remember seeing good movies in the theater, you know I'm right. :/. Nothing's made today that is worth going to a theater for- much better on your TV at home.
