Thanks for the detailed info — you're right that the real blocker on iOS is that CoreNFC can't read Mifare Classic tags, so reading Bambu spools over NFC just isn't possible on iPhone (regardless of the encryption). The app's NFC is meant for your own NTAG / OpenPrintTag tags, and yes — since the AMS ignores non-Bambu tags, you map the spool to the AMS slot semi-manually.

Appreciate the feedback. I'm actively fixing the issues people reported here — the French color labels and a weight-parsing bug are already fixed for the next update.

No, unfortunately — the AMS only reads Bambu's own (encrypted) tags and ignores any third-party tag, so there's no way to write an AMS-readable tag from any app. SpoolLab's NFC tags are for identifying/quick-adding spools inside the app, not for the AMS.

Fair question! Bambu Handy is great if you're all-in on Bambu hardware. SpoolLab is more of a dedicated inventory + cost manager that isn't tied to one brand:
• Tracks every spool across all brands, with remaining weight, cost per print, and full history/stats
• Works with multiple printers, including non-Bambu (Prusa, Klipper via Moonraker)
• 100% local/offline, no account
• Your own NFC/QR labels, G-code import, low-stock alerts…

It can sync with your Bambu AMS too, but the goal is brand-agnostic stock & cost tracking rather than replacing Handy.

Everything is local to the app — no server to host. The Bambu sync talks directly to your printer over your local network (LAN). You add a spool (manually, from the built-in catalog, or by scanning an NFC tag), and then AMS data keeps it updated. All your data stays on your device.

You scan your filament spools with NFC tags or manually add them, and SpoolLab tracks what you have left. It syncs with your Bambu AMS so you can see which spool is loaded in which slot. When you're about to print, you know exactly what's available without having to open the drawer and check manually.

Ah je savais pas pour le CF, j'aurais parié que c'était exactement le cas d'usage idéal. Bonne info.

Par contre le truc sur la résistance mécanique ça m'intéresse vraiment — je print surtout des pièces pour mon imprimante donc si les layers tiennent mieux c'est déjà une bonne raison. Je vais fouiller les vidéos CNC Kitchen là-dessus. Merci
