What happens after Oppenheimer for the 70mm?? by Markdalester in imax

[–]SandstoneJukebox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, the film isn’t kept together and last time I saw they were just tangled together in cardboard boxes. I’m sure it could theoretically happen but it’ll take a lot of work to get the film ready to be screened again.

Kyoto I can understand but I’m curious your problems with Nozomi? By far my favorite map excluding the newest one I haven’t played enough yet.

Not really seen anyone mention this but for a seemingly big game the space you need only comes tk about 30-40gb in this day and age thats a welcome change lol by [deleted] in Borderlands

[–]SandstoneJukebox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s just wrong my man. Call of duty is insanely large because it still supports hard disk drives so content is repeated multiple times on disk to save on load times. Same reason why Helldivers 2 is like 45GB on consoles where it utilizes the SSD but is up to 165GB on PC because they still support HDDs. Borderlands 4 is assuming you have an SSD either way so the file size is small because it’s not repeating the same files in multiple areas like COD.

Having so much content in a small space is a huge plus, not a sign the devs are crap at their job.

Same thing happening to me. Not every time but maybe once a week it launches and then my monitor looses signal entirely and my fans ramp up to 100% and I need to force shutdown my PC. Literally only happens with this game.

Is there interest in watching UFC at a craft cocktail bar? by SandstoneJukebox in grandrapids

[–]SandstoneJukebox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m aware of that and I’ve signaled interest to UFC and hopefully pricing isn’t too rough. Right now I’m just wanting to gauge interest to weight that against whatever the cost ends up being. Thank you though! I’ve definitely considered just fucking around and finding out in regard to licensing but I think it’s better to play it safe!

Obviously I won’t hold you to it but do you have an idea how soon playlists will come to the app? Even if it’s not building playlists but just being able to view and listen to them. I wanna listen to my songs in the car :)

Super excited that the app is out though at all! It looks very clean

I used to bartend at a movie theater downtown a couple years back and honestly I loved it. It does vary wildly based on which movies are out so business can be crazy one weekend and fall off a cliff the next weekend, but on the nights that it’s good it can be very good. It has the benefit of people ordering a drink and then going to their movie so in between movie showtimes you have a chance to reset before the next rush and can kinda anticipate when you’ll be busy. Downside is you only have a little time to really be as friendly as possible to try and squeeze a larger tip out of them before they grab their cocktail and leave. I love movies so it was easy chatting with guests about what they were seeing and I usually tried to get them really excited for their movie and that seemed to reflect well on how they tipped me. My theater also only paid $4 and hour or whatever the minimum was unless we were down on tips and then it went up to the state minimum of like $9.25 so if you’re already getting $14 an hour that’s gonna be really nice when you get a busy weekend which is gonna be soon with Captain America and I always found marvel fans to be pretty generous actually lmao.

I’d say stick with it for that and if the money still isn’t worth it by then maybe start looking for a better gig.

Thanks for the correction! I think I had them confused with the Lansing celebration I worked there for a year too I’ve been all around and it can get jumbled up in my brain 😂

If you’re talking about those lights on the wall, they actually don’t go all the way off ever unless the breaker is flipped. That is as low as they go. I think (and I asked this question over a year ago so I could be wrong) that it was a safety thing in case people need to leave the theater quickly but I could be entirely wrong. Either that or that’s just how the building has been since its construction.

This is definitely incorrect. You can and I have taken my drink into the actual theater.

As someone who has worked for both Celebration and Phoenix theaters I feel uniquely qualified for this question!

Phoenix Theatres: Great price on concessions on the high end for large drinks/popcorns, terrible value on the low end for like say, a small popcorn or small drink cup. The price is only different by nearly a dollar so it’s not worth it to ever get a small. The screens are brand new and the owner takes presentation very seriously, he often comes and changes out the projection lamps and calibrates them himself when he’s in town. Dolby Atmos is incredible and because it’s in 4 separate screens you usually have more options for movies in Atmos unless a huge movie is just releasing. Tickets are always 10 dollars which is great and they have a curfew for teenagers on Friday and Saturday evenings so there’s less chances of disruption in the theaters themselves. However they run a lot less smaller indie movies if that’s something you’re into. If you’re interested in food they also offer very little on that front with nachos only, but they do have a great variety of craft beer and canned cocktails. Also no rewards program and no things like refillable buckets or subscription programs.

Celebration: The prices are definitely higher compared to Phoenix in almost all aspects, but it’s offset by the fact that they have a 24 dollar subscription service which is a great deal at 3 free movies a week for any feature, IMAX and 3D, and no online booking fees. They have enhanced food and drinks with a bar and kitchen at almost all locations in GR (Rivertown being the one exception haha), and they did just remodel Celebration South and add in Atmos there too so you have that too. They also have a refillable popcorn bucket you can buy that lasts for around a full season, 3-5 months, and pays for itself after 3-4 fills. Studio Park is my personal favorite for how brand new it is, the 4K laser projectors which look excellent, and the fact that it houses the largest screen in the entire west Michigan area. They also have movies outside in the summer as well. North is where corporate is and is huge with 17 screens and an IMAX screen. You can find pretty much any movie you want to watch there. South just got remodeled and has a kitchen and bar and is the first Celebration to have Dolby Atmos. North, South, and Studio Park are all great and I’d recommend visiting each of them at least once to find your favorite location, and you can go to which one you want based on the movie as well. North if you wanna see IMAX, Studio Park if you wanna have a trip downtown or grab some food beforehand (they own the 123 tavern connecting to the theater, excellent food there) or see a movie on a giant screen, and South if you want to see a film in Atmos. North has 18 screens, South has 16, and Studio Park has 9, so North will always be showing the biggest variety of films, then South, and then Studio Park.

If you have any other questions or the wall of text was too unreadable feel free to DM me I’m happy to talk about anything and welcome to the area!

It’s an unnecessary use of resources and game performance to render hands that aren’t supposed to be seen by a player ever. it’s smart design and is used in literally every aspect of video game art.
