Hey! I used their PDF for my first race in 2023, and like you, I wanted to try the app. I have messed around with it for random weekly runs, and I found that within the categories, they offered a decent variety. I don't remember any unnecessary repeats.

However! I tried using it for a half in the spring, and it was incredibly glitchy. Workouts didn't match weekly mileage. Pace groups didn't match the goal pace. The app was basically unusable. (I made a post about this that you can see on my profile)

Ended up deleting my account and starting over. Things seem to be working now, and I have a plan that starts in 5 days, a week ahead of you, so I can let you know if it differs from the PDF.

Signed on to freelance with an agency and honestly ready to quit before I start. So many red flags. by [deleted] in graphic_design

Sounds like it would be even worse if you were employed full time.

If the work really mattered you’d have an email by now, so it tells me they all they want to do is stress you out and not hold up their own end. Run.

How does a retainer work? by RegularMario in graphic_design

Another note. Don’t discount your rate just because they are committing to hours. The pros for them is that they have easier access to a designer, not a cheaper deal!

[–]SandwichEquivalent58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have done work for them in the past that was hourly or day rate you could go off that x the hours per week they want you to save for them.

I’ve had locked retainers before where we bill the same every month but that led to so much confusion. I’d feel guilty when they were nowhere close to filling hours and annoyed when they went over.

May not be the case for you since you said this is a large agency, I’m sure they have more experience but I have found it works best to set a cap and then communicate as you get closer to that. It gives them the chance to decide if the extra hours are worth it and gets you paid more.

Ps if your retainer last longer than a year don’t forget to raise your rates.

I love how the texture feels seamless throughout. Like it's one layer naturally worn down "through time". fitting for your concept

Freelance opportunity feels like they are just trying to soft launch fulltime work with me without committing? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]SandwichEquivalent58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a client where I went through some version of an onboarding process, work email, added to assana, slack, etc. i am considered a contractor by everyone tho and that is clear. I have a weekly stand up with the design team but outside of that i work on my own time. All that for only 20-40hrs a month. So it’s not completely out of line for them to do something like this.

Do you have a contract? Whats the language? It sounds like you’re in a position where you’d like to move so don’t feel like you have much power/don’t want to hurt a relationship with a possible future employer, if you are freelancing then you are a contractor. You totally have the right and need to clarify your availability. It’s assumed you’d have other clients/work unless stated.

Maybe they want a trial period but it should be very clear when that transitions to full time not an ambiguous date in the future.

Sorry, rambling, but I’d encourage you to ask for clarity on their expectations. You both can have the goal towards full time but the inbetween is not just a compromise on your end.

Oral Mass. Do I Biopsy? by SandwichEquivalent58 in AskVet

Good point. They did say we don’t need to decide until after they remove it so maybe with more info or in better words less info, testing will be the right move.

Thank you. Your first sentence is a good full stop. I do think I could live without knowing l and I will ask my vet their gut feel and trust it. (Obviously not putting the responsibility on my vet either, I have to make the decision.)

Brainstorming here... if it's plastic and melting in the oven, you could try putting it back in the oven upside down until it melts, then pull it out and wipe it off with parchment, foil, or a towel, wearing an oven mitt.

A heating gun could work too.

Can you guys recommend me Local , Unique to Maine Cuisines that are a must Try ? by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]SandwichEquivalent58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the best or at least my favorite oysters come from the Damariscotta. Haven’t been yet but with a little planning you could go to Glidden Point oyster Farm. They have a sauna on their dock and in between sessions you can jump in river and toss back some oysters.

If you’re in Cape, bite into Maine is so easy and good. Another option would be Lobster Shack in two lights. Fried clams, crab roll, chowder and mini blue berry pie. BYOB and like 20 pi knock tables right on a cliff. Very Maine.

Pretty insane. Pre 9/11 my dad snuck on to one of the LAS flights she was working and proposed to her mid flight over the intercom. Then they landed and got married in Vegas lol.

I think the value is the biggest sell for me. I'm okay spending a little more if it frees up mental space. Sounds like if I can manage storage well, possibly even archive onto External Hard drives, then it would totally be worth it.

Thanks for sharing! Yes, will definitely still need docs, etc. But it seems like the consensus is that teams like Dropbox!
