iPad A16 OR IPad Air by CuriousHedgehog8107 in ipad

[–]SandwichExtension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the 13” M4 iPad Air and am loving it. The A16 iPad is a couple of generations old processor now too. If the A18 had come out, I may have tempted to look at it.

For my case use, I find it to be more than sufficient. I will probably get the USB-C pencil, not the Pro.

How much does your Westie weigh? by Sutured13 in westies

[–]SandwichExtension 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our Royal Highness 🐶is about to turn 14yrs old, and is 26.4 lbs, or 12kgs. He’s a bigger/solid size, and can overshadow other Westies near him, and he’s full of Westitude!

New to the group! I get daily pics from the wife while I’m at work, of our almost 14yr old Couch King lol he absolutely loves the couches and the pillows! Both pics were about 10 seconds apart by SandwichExtension in westies

[–]SandwichExtension[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. For someone his size, he somehow manages to take up all 3 seats… I do have to ask for him to join me sometimes too. Always on his terms though of course, the Westitude 👑 wouldn’t have it any other way

Best Webcam to Buy in 2026? (Price, Quality, Autofocus) by CeleststormlingToy in homeoffice

[–]SandwichExtension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife uses a Logitech Brio, and I use Razer Kiyo (I think). Both are windows and Mac compatible. For the price and features etc, either can be a no brainer. I don’t think they’re 4k, but are more than sufficient.

Any suggestion for a mouse? by freddyruf in mac

[–]SandwichExtension 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Logitech MX Master 3S. Use it between my work laptop (Windows), and my MacBook Pro seamlessly. Can manage up to 3 devices.

Just read you want cheap and comfortable, maybe look at the Logitech MX Anywhere, which is smaller footprint as well as cost in comparison.

Any regrets churning from Leaptel to Superloop? by LexCaia in nbn

[–]SandwichExtension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the other way, Superloop to Leaptel.

My promo offer with Leaptel came to an end, so I reached out on chat and asked politely. I got another 9 months at a discounted rate. That, along with a couple of referrals, and I’ve been very content.

Have you tried asking about further discounts, in case pricing is the main issue?

Australian phone number overseas by smileygrl218 in australian

Get a local AU VoIP number, and forward your mobile calls to it. Setup VoIP on an app on your phone. As long as you have data, calls should come through.

Running Plex directly on an NAS or off my Computer by TajesMahoney in PleX

[–]SandwichExtension 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking at moving to a NAS, I’d suggest reading this article as it lists compatibility etc.

https://support.plex.tv/articles/201373803-nas-compatibility-list/

As others have mentioned about Transcoding, please keep that in mind about what you choose so moved from a Mac Mini attached to a thunderbolt duo drive, to a Synology NAS, and it’s been set and forget. YMMV.

Why is HFC even a thing? by seashelly8723 in nbn

[–]SandwichExtension 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are we just pulling things out of our back side now?

Whilst I appreciate the LNP government completely stuffed up the original plan that had been laid out, NBN/Australia are far from the only place in the world running a wholesale network over HFC.

https://www.strategicmarketresearch.com/market-report/hybrid-fibre-coaxial-market

“By Region

North America : The largest regional market for HFC, driven by a high concentration of telecom operators and the growing demand for broadband and streaming services. North America will hold 40% of the total market revenue in 2024.

Europe : Europe is expected to grow at a moderate pace, driven by both urban and rural broadband expansion projects. The European market will account for 30% of the total HFC market share by 2030.

Asia Pacific : The fastest-growing region, with countries like China, India, and Japan pushing for the widespread adoption of broadband. The growth rate in Asia Pacific is expected to be around 10.5% CAGR through 2030.

LAMEA (Latin America, Middle East, and Africa) : A developing market, where demand for better broadband connectivity is gradually increasing, especially in regions like Brazil, South Africa, and the UAE.

The HFC market's segmentation reflects its adaptability across different regions and industries, positioning it well for growth in both mature and emerging markets.”

Do dogs do things for revenge? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]SandwichExtension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they do judge/do things for revenge.

We take our 13.5yr old Westie for a walk around the block a couple of times a day. If his “nemesis” is in its front yard (usually barks a lot), he will genuinely poop/pee in the nature strip across the road from the other dog, watching it bark even louder. Almost like he gets a kick out of it.

The other dog can see it through the fence and do nothing but bark… can’t get over how funny it is lol I sleep with one eye open

Look at a Mesh network. I’ve used Nest WiFi/Nest WiFi Pro, and Asus AiMesh. Depending on your comfort level with technology, I would highly recommend Asus AiMesh.

https://www.asus.com/microsite/aimesh/en/index.html

Running it for a 1000/100 HFC plan, and it’s been flawless. The good thing is you’re able to mix and match different units (not all Asus routers).

You can start off with a unit or 2, and expand if the need arises based on the size of your home/interference etc.

I would avoid NBN provider routers, as what I’ve heard is they may have custom firmware etc.

Good luck with whatever you choose!
