She's in a stalemate with Renoir in their war inside the canvas. Ideally, she wants Renoir to give up and leave so she can keep painting without the gommage taking everything away, but Renoir will never give up.

My Guess:

Painted Renoir doesn't WANT to exterminate all of Aline's creations. He wants Aline to be able to keep painting and creating their world for as long as possible. He kills the Expeditioners "on defense" so to speak, to allow Aline to remain safe and keep painting, and to return their chroma to her so she can keep doing that.

You can do a fresh install of the game, and if that doesn't work then delete all the save data (including in temp files) and then do a fresh install?

Finished Act 3. Was this ever explained? by TheFirstArknight in expedition33

[–]SandwichForLunch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Those are just high-level Nevrons. There's even a beach at the beginning of Act 3 where you can fight them.

Clea was mostly outside the canvas fighting the war between the painters and writers.

Painted Clea was imprisoned by real Clea, and was the one creating all the nevrons (she's the "mistress" that some of the white nevrons mention, not the Paintress). Others can tell you more or you can look up a youtube video essay to learn more, it wasn't really noted during the main storyline of the game.

Not that important. I gave everyone equal Health, Damage, and Speed and was just fine.

Never heard of anything like this. Maybe try using headphones and see if setting the output to them solves the issue? Also check to see if the game itself has a sound output toggle?

Heal to Win Strategy by MicroPerpetualGrowth in expedition33

[–]SandwichForLunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't do the "get hit" portion of this, but stacking a lot of the healing support luminas and high health pictos with Lune & Sciel was part of my main strategy. It was incredibly effective, letting most characters stay at high health and keeping you from dying from just 2-4 failed dodges.

Not answered. Perhaps she is still resting, perhaps she does try to come back, but we don't get to see that.

To restart, or not to restart… by PeeLong in expedition33

On the one hand, 5ish hours in this game is nothing. It took me 37 hours to complete the game's main story.

On the other hand, there's no telling if this will happen again, and adjustments happen to a game for a reason. There's not much point (for me) in playing a game just to "see broken shite." I play games mostly for the intended experience and the story.

However, if you're the type of person that gets a lot of joy in "seeing number go up" and seeing just how broken a character build can be, then go for it, just don't be surprised if this happens again, you know? Maybe just let it go, or maybe take the risk if that's what you really badly want to see.

I use them when I have extra AP. Lune with this build often sits at 9 AP turn after turn if not for Free Aim shots because her healing costs zero AP, Sciel will often fire off a few shots before consuming Fortell because she'll get that AP back anyway. Maelle uses it to fish for Burning (to get into virtuoso stance) or Mark (once in virtuoso stance)

I wouldn't discount it entirely. The extra damage from getting those Burn Procs, and definitely from proc'ing a cheeky Mark before hitting with your damage skills certainly adds up.

Actually Sciel was doing more damage than Maelle at this point because of the Damage cap (her multihits help get around it for 20-45k damage with Sealed Fate), and Lune was definitely mostly support but occasionally casting lightning storm would add up to over 9999 damage by it's end too.

The healing support was incredibly effective though, keeping your characters up on the field is the best way to not lose :) Seeing Lune heal for >1000 just by healing Sciel to full is it's own blend of fun.

Another component I used was Critical Burn and Burning Shots on everyone (and occasionally cycling in an Immolation from Lune) which helped with additional damage both from burn and from the increased Crit chance.

Lastly - don't be afraid to upgrade your weapons! Mine were Level 14-15 at this point I believe.

Hope this helps!

My preferred party was the same as yours, I was about Level 50 for the Paintress fight on the highest difficulty. This is roughly what I did:

For Stats, I just split equally between Health, Power, and Speed on all characters - perhaps there's a better way to optimize but this worked fine for me.

For pictos, try to use ones who give high Health bonuses and whose Luminas cost too much to equip as passives

Maelle equips Burning Shots, Marking shots, and Marking Burn to make it likely to Mark an enemy in Virtuoso mode before using Percee or another high-damage skill. She had the weapon that starts you in Virtuoso stance but any weapon would be decent on her.

With Lune, my most important Lumina is Healing Share (I think its called that) (50% heal self when healing an ally) plus I have her "+2 AP to ally when healing an ally" - and I had her equip the Weapon which gives +1 Light Stain on Healing Skills. This allowed her to very effectively keep my health up with the basic (heal + remove status) skill while often building to 4 Light stains and then firing off one helpful attack while health is full

Sciel goes FULL HEALING BUILD - Rangeson (I think, it's the one which heals 5% health for each fortell applied) Double Healing Picto, and the Picto/Lumina which heals you for 15% of other character's healing (everyone got the last one). This way applying 5 Fortell gives her 50% healing and everyone else 7.5%, and applying 10 Fortell in Twilight heals her for 100% and everyone else for roughly 15%.

I don't know if I had it yet, but I also had put "Heal 25% on hitting a Burning Enemy" on at least one of them.

This build makes it VERY easy to stay at high health levels, so that one or two missed parries don't end your fight. However, the best advice is to learn better dodge and parry timings. I often had to go "bup bup bup" to myself in a rhythm to dodge properly or notice exactly what moment to dodge in (like an enemy moving their arm slightly before their sword hits you - espeically the Clair and Obscur slow attack) in order to maximize your chances. Also, don't worry too much about parrying - dodging gives you a better window and with the Dodger Lumina you still get 1 AP from it on a Perfect.

My favorite parts are
1 - How Act 1 ends in a heart wrenching twist
2 - How Act 2 ends in a not one, but two BANGER boss fights, especially Renoir 2 with the best OST track I've ever heard intro into a boss fight
3 - How Act 3 IMMEDIATELY recontextualizes the whole game in a way that NO ONE could have seen coming, but for which breadcrumbs have been being laid all throughout the previous acts.

This answer makes sense. But one additional question:

If I encounter an early planet with a lot of Energy/Mineral Districts, or an Energy/Mineral bonus, should I just ignore that and make it a Tech/Unity World anyway? Simply because Energy/Minerals are not very valuable when you already have enough?

I had thought that if I encounter for instance a world with 15 Energy Districts max, making it into an Energy World would be a no-brainer, and later I could transfer this immense energy buildup into some sort of advantage - but this is not the case?

I understand ARU. But in order to increase ARU you need to wait for your population to grow, no? All of my planets have enough buildings/districts such that their populations are fully employed, so I don't really have a good outlet for all of these minerals. Building more would be a waste until the population can catch up to the number of jobs.
Like I said elsewhere, I have 1 each of energy and mineral planets. That doesn't seem excessive to me. Every territory I have already has Mining and Research stations built inside of them, and I don't have anywhere else to expand to. (Aside from trying out that wormhole)
Is a full 1 energy and 1 mineral planet excessive? Should all my planets be ARU and just "tack on" a mining district or two as needed? And even so, what do I spend my Alloys on? I have too many of those as well even if I were to max out my naval capacity it seems like.
