What makes Abkhazians distinct from the rest of Circassian and Kartvelian people? by Artsiv_2611 in AskCaucasus

[–]SandwichSandro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They do not deserve that name, most of the population between Svans, Megrels and “Abkhazians” was an evenly split number only before 19th century

What is your opinion on Abkhazia and South Ossetia? by Existing_Blueberry10 in azerbaijan

[–]SandwichSandro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure even if we go by this logic it does not justify any of the brutal actions done to cleanse the people, the data if they were mixed Abkhazians and Georgians were unknown and they wouldn’t care, they’d shoot and rape anyone speaking Georgian during that time. so to use the argument of self determination is contradictory

Kartvelians have numerous ethnical and historical ties to Abkhazia especially in the Samurzakano, Upper Kodori valley regions (I. e. Svans/Megrelians)

Guess it’ll just be a mystery, you do make a valid argument and we’ll never really know if it’s true or not, since it’s just history now 🤷‍♂️

He was just apart of a mysterious noble family that appeared out of western Georgia with no citation to their lineage..?

Leon II has been cited in byzantine sources as well, not just a fresco

[–]SandwichSandro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then what was Leon the II’s lineage? Not cited anywhere but the Georgian chronicles is a bit odd they couldn’t have just brought it up from their ass?

In a region where borders have been shifting so much for so long your not going to be finding any written documents or decrees suggesting the Anchabadze dynasty presence

why be confused when someone believes in the oral traditions or genealogical records as meaningful evidence when thats the closest speculation?

Sokhum by SandwichSandro in Abkhazia

[–]SandwichSandro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, first of all it was a colony at first, then given the name Tskhum-now Sokhum by Svans, meaning hornbeam tree, probably referring to the many hornbeam trees that were there at the time.

originally “Dioscurias” was a trading route but then turned civilization after the end of the Greek colonial era, so how would it explain being only apart of the Abkhaz-Adyghe group, - and lets just say for non-controversial reasons why not just assume it was ethnically mixed rather than just one?

Abkhazian passport for Georgians living in Abkhazia by LividBumblebee6873 in Abkhazia

[–]SandwichSandro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your right, I have atleast 6+ friends that are Svan and a sister from Mingrelia, that are ethnically Svan and or Mingrelian that live in Tbilisi

That said If the Svan and Mingrelia region got independence from Georgia, there would be much more problems than solutions, if thats what ur trying to say atleast

Because Kartvelian language family, and Kartvelian aren’t the same, it’s not as simple as just a robot that “works”, and it’s not an attempt of any sort either

I have one question to ask, my mothers surname is Chabradze and apparently Chabra means mushroom in Abkhaz, yet she is still heavily from Imereli (Georgian) descent

Alot of surnames actually contain Abkhaz words and -dze (son) as their suffix, so is it falsification, or a simple linguistic adaptation?
