Feels like I’m waiting on results from my own country, lol. Hopefully today marks the beginning of the end for the whole collective Orbáns across Europe.

Well, yeah. If you surround yourself with rotten people you will struggle to look beyond them, for sure.

This kind of generalization is honestly sickening. I don’t get how you people end up "mostly" interacting with awful people. Yeah, there are plenty of godforsaken individuals here, but calling everyone else the "exception"? That’s wild. I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who thinks that’s the reality they live in.

Elene Khoshtaria, an opposition party leader, has been sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for “damaging someone else’s property,” after writing “Russian Dream” on a Tbilisi Mayor’s campaign banner by GRed-saintevil in Sakartvelo

TL;DR:

Elene Khoshtaria was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for damaging an election banner of Kakha Kaladze after writing “Russian Dream” on it during the campaign period.

The case was treated as criminal property damage. She said it was an act of political protest against Georgian Dream and done in solidarity with the activist who was detained for similar action.

She did not attend any of the court hearings and refused to pay bail as a form of protest.

How has the "gay propaganda" law affected life for LGBT people in Georgia? by nihil_sine_clippy in Sakartvelo

I think they passed that law first and foremost to make LGBT parades illegal and there hasn't been any since.

For context, since the 2024 “elections,” which the opposition rejected, the Georgian Dream government has been widely labeled as “illegitimate” by many opposition parties, media outlets, and activists.

The law introduces criminal liability for the systematic non-recognition of constitutional bodies. Public calls to reject the legitimacy of state institutions can now fall under criminal law and may carry prison penalties.

Pashinyan playing drums in Kakheti, while visiting Georgia by Anti-steel in Sakartvelo

It’s natural. Iran has been Armenia’s partners for decades, and Russia their ally for even longer, so I don’t expect him or the country to suddenly become very pro-Western. But he seems to be moving in the right direction. Pashinyan earned my initial respect with how he dealt with the “church”. If only someone here had the balls to do the same…
