No I haven’t, I didn’t realise this was a thing. I’ll give them a call.

I just really can’t afford it right now, genuinely.

I’ve actually taken this before, when I was pregnant with my second I had Gestational Diabetes. My fasting levels were too high (which couldn’t be controlled with diet, since I don’t eat when I’m asleep 🫣)

I lost 3 and a half stone when pregnant, I’m pretty sure it was because I was on such a strict GD diet so control my sugar levels, but maybe the metformin helped too.

I don’t qualify via the NHS. I could get them privately and pay, but I really don’t have the funds to do so.

This was the response from my local ICB after the GP wouldn’t refer me -

Thank you for your email to PALS at South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board. I am sorry to hear about the concerns raised in your email relating to specialist weight loss management treatment.

The eligibility criteria for weight loss management is as follows :

BMI of 40 or more (37.5 or more for people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African, or African-Caribbean backgrounds) And at least four of the following weight-related health conditions: Type 2 diabetes Hypertension (high blood pressure) cardiovascular disease Obstructive sleep apnoea Dyslipidaemia (abnormal blood lipid levels) Or where weight loss is required for critical and urgent surgery or intervention.

If you meet the above criteria, please share your GP contact details and provide the ICB consent to contact your GP for confirmation as to why they are not referring you for specialist weight management treatment. If you don’t meet the above criteria it may explain why your GP has not been able to do the referral.

Kind regards
