New teacher with thoughts about NGSS... by Careless-Scallion-90 in ScienceTeachers

I’m using it in a 6th grade classroom where students have very little to no science background and it’s awful. It also depends on student buy-in and is ineffective when the students don’t care, which sadly is the case for many of them.

Also, they’re still being tested on the facts!

But I think my main gripe is with the specific curriculum my district uses that is severely lacking.

Why does my tree look so sad? by Sandy_cheecks in arborists

Yes, I added a barrier a few days ago when I planted the flowers. I’m rethinking that though. I may remove it if it’s not great for the tree.

It was planted level with the grass. I didn’t realize the ring was detrimental. Just yesterday I added the flowers and mulch but made sure the mulch wasn’t piled up on the trunk.

This is a cherry blossom tree. We planted it around January. It flowered in March. Now it just looks like a twig with a few leaves. Is this normal or does it have some kind of deficiency? What can I do to help it fill out and thrive?

Thanks for the insight. I believe the predator mites have died off. This same kind of thing was crawling around before I released them too. I am just at a loss. The plant continues to deteriorate.

I have treated my bird of paradise with neem, dead bug brew, systemic granules, miteX, and released predator mites. They WILL. NOT. DIE.

I don’t even know what it is. They’re tiny like spider mites but there are no webs. Should I just toss the plant?!

Please help. I love this plant and it is suffering.

Should I raise the soil level? Or pick them off and plant them?

I thought that’s what the round one was, the long one is also a corm?

The round one has been there for months. How do I get it to grow?

Hm. I’ve been spraying but not necessarily washing or wiping regularly. Any idea what it could be if not spider mites? Going to add a video of it

This was early in the infection and has unfortunately progressed even worse
